Dog hit by car rescued by Miami-Dade police officers [A cop/dog story with a HAPPY ending]:

Roy Rutland was on his way back to police headquarters, westbound on Northwest 36th Street, when he saw an impact up ahead. He saw a flash of brake lights and an animal rolling on the street.

Rutland, a Miami-Dade detective, pulled up to the spot impact Monday night and rolled down his window.

"I saw this beautiful shepherd on the ground and yelping so loud in pain," he said. "Two otherdogs were there and they were barking, almost like they were asking for help."
