Magnate tells "Today" he has people in the Aloha State conducting on-the-ground research into the president's birthplace.

MEREDITH VIEIRA: So, is the time right now for you?

DONALD TRUMP: Well, the time certainly is right. We're a laughing stock as a country throughout the world. We're being taken advantage of by other countries

***

MEREDITH VIEIRA: If you were President, would keep a military presence in Iraq indefinitely.

DONALD TRUMP: Let me just say something. There's nobody more militaristic than me, but it's also called attack the right target. Iran is going to take over Iraq, because we have de-neutered Iraq, you know that, in terms of their military. They're gonna take them over very quickly as soon as we leave. If that's gonna happen, they're gonna take over the oil fields. The second biggest oil fields in the world. And if that's gonna happen, I say we take over the oil fields…I would take over the oil fields, because otherwise, Iran is gonna take over the second biggest oil fields in the world....

Do You Qualify As A Domestic Terrorist?

Do You Qualify As A Domestic Terrorist?

Author: Mac Slavo
April 6th, 2011

A few weeks ago Bernard von NotHaus, purveyor of the gold/silver backed "Liberty Dollar", was convicted on numerous charges including making, possessing, and selling his own coins, as well as conspiracy against the United States. Western District of North Carolina US attorney Anne Tompkins issued a Department of Justice press release that should raise blaring, high decibel sirens across the entire Union:

"Attempts to undermine the legitimate currency of this country are simply a unique form of domestic terrorism," U.S. Attorney Tompkins said in announcing the verdict. "While these forms of anti-government activities do not involve violence, they are every bit as insidious and represent a clear and present danger to the economic stability of this country," she added. "We are determined to meet these threats through infiltration, disruption, and dismantling of organizations which seek to challenge the legitimacy of our democratic form of government."

The definitions for what is or is not a "terrorist" are ambiguous as defined by the Patriot Act, and have been progressively, hastily and secretively expanded over the course of the last decade. A "terrorist," it seems, is now anyone who actively engages in an activity – whether it's violent, peaceful, public or private – perceived to threaten the legitimacy and/or stability of our government.

An eighteen year veteran of law enforcement recently published an article at James Rawles' Survival Blog detailing how perceptions in law enforcement are being molded to fit the new paradigm. The use of the term "terrorist" to describe a wide variety of crimes, and more alarmingly, the passive behaviors of those who intend to do no harm to the government or the public, is being injected into the broader consciousness and everyday semantics of the American people.

During the past several years, I have witnessed a dramatic shift in the focus of law enforcement training. Law enforcement courses have moved away from a local community focus to a federally dominated model of complete social control. Most training I have attended over the past two years have been sponsored by Department of Homeland Security (DHS), namely the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

No matter what topic the training session concerns, every DHS sponsored course I have attended over the past few years never fails to branch off into warnings about potential domestic terrorists in the community. While this may sound like a valid officer and community safety issue, you may be disturbed to learn how our Federal government describes a typical domestic terrorist.

These federal trainers describe the dangers of "extremists" and "militia groups" roaming the community and hiding in plain sight, ready to attack. Officers are instructed how to recognize these domestic terrorists by their behavior, views and common characteristics. State data bases are kept to track suspected domestic terrorists and officers are instructed on reporting procedures to state and federal agencies. The state I work in, like many others, have what is known as a "fusion center" that compiles a watch list of suspicious people.

So how does a person qualify as a potential domestic terrorist? Based on the training I have attended, here are characteristics that qualify:

* Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
* Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
* Survivalist literature (fictional books such as "Patriots" and "One Second After" are mentioned by name)
* Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
* Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
* Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
* Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government Homeschooling
* Declarations of Constitutional rights and civil liberties
* Belief in a New World Order conspiracy

Reading this law enforcement officer's account may seem like conjecture, considering that we're supposed to be living in America, historically the last bastion of freedom in the world. But this isn't conjecture, nor are these the ravings of a disgruntled law enforcement officer.

Take, for example, the now infamous MIAC Report, from the Missouri Information Analysis Center, which is responsible for collecting incident reports of suspicious activity and analyzing those incidents to build profiles of potential terrorists and terrorist activity:

The MIAC report specifically describes supporters of presidential candidates Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, and Bob Barr as "militia" influenced terrorists and instructs the Missouri police to be on the lookout for supporters displaying bumper stickers and other paraphernalia associated with the Constitutional, Campaign for Liberty, and Libertarian parties.

Police are educated in the document that people are are anti-abortion, own gold, display an assortment of U.S. flags, or even those that talk about the film Zeitgeist, view the police as their "enemy" and conflates them with domestic terrorists like Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph and other domestic militia groups who have been charged with plotting terrorist attacks.

Across the entire United States, similar reports are being disseminated to law enforcement, and as incidents of "domestic terrorism" become more broadly prosecuted, reported, and the terminology is further entranced into the daily vocabulary, more people will find themselves the target of probes, investigations and on terrorist watch lists, no-fly lists, and no-work lists.

In a previous report we facetiously opined and calculated that the terrorist watch list may exceed the US population by 2019. Perhaps we weren't so far off with our assessment.

Given the direction things are going, and the sheer scope of the tentacles of the ever-growing police state, it's only a matter of time before everyone, regardless of lifestyle choice, preferred reading genre, political leaning, religious conviction, shopping behavior, hobbies and interests, will qualify as a 'domestic terrorist.'

Be advised: You are now a "person of interest."

How To End the Federal Reserve System ~ by Gary North

How To End the Federal Reserve System

Things are not always as complicated as they seem. With respect to the Federal Reserve System, it is a deliberate mystery. It was deliberately designed in 1910 to deceive the public, who were opposed the idea of a central bank. The conspirators who met on Jekyll Island in November 1910 knew this. They did good work from their point of view. They concealed the beast.
The general public today knows little about the FED. Prior to Ron Paul's Presidential run in 2007-8, far fewer people understood it.
I have been asked: "How could we get rid of the Federal Reserve? What will replace it?" The answer: either the free market or Congress.
People who think of themselves as free market people often are not. The tax-funded public schools and the state-regulated and accredited university faculties have taught that the modern system of intrusive civil government is necessary for an orderly society. People cannot imagine a market-based society.
There is an old saying, "You can't beat something with nothing." But the free market social order is not nothing. It is expanding around the world, which is why the world is getting richer.
At the Federal level, a free market social order in banking existed prior to 1914. That was back when the dollar was worth over 20 times what it is worth today. On this point, see the inflation calculator of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
We can go back to that system. We will go back to it. The question is: When? The other question is: At what price?
ENDING THE FED BY LAW

Ron Paul could introduce a bill to end the Federal Reserve System. He could call it: "The Monetary Liberty Act." It would get known as the "End the Fed Act." Here is what the text might say.
The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 is hereby repealed. So are all subsequent acts based on the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.
All authority of the Federal Reserve System to act in the name of the United States government is hereby revoked.
The assets of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, which are already the property of the United States Government, are hereby transferred to the Department of the Treasury. This includes all of the assets listed on the balance sheet of the Federal Reserve System.
The twelve (12) privately owned Federal Reserve Banks will return all assets held in trust for the United States government within thirty (30) calendar days of the signing of this bill into law.
The gold reserves of the United States government that are held in storage by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will be transferred to the Government's depository at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, within one calendar year after this bill becomes law. The Government Accountability Office will conduct an inventory of the gold held in storage by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York before and after this transfer.
The Board of Governors will vacate the premises of the Federal Reserve building within thirty (30) calendar days of the signing of this bill into law.
Any pension fund assets of the employees of the various Federal Reserve Banks will remain under the control of those banks. All pension obligations under the authority of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System are hereby transferred to the Department of the Treasury, to be administered under the retirement program of the Department of the Treasury.
This is simple. The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is a government agency. Its authority would be transferred to the U.S. Treasury.

The dozen Federal Reserve Banks are privately owned. All authority of these 12 banks that derives from their connection to the Board of Governors will cease. If they can make a profit, fine. If not, equally fine. The free market will determine which will survive and which will not.
Is this radical? Not at all. There are two historical precedents: the refusal of Congress to renew the charter of the Bank of the United States in 1811, and the refusal of Congress to renew the charter of the Second Bank of the United States in 1836. Both of them went bust.
The standard response is that there must be independence between the Federal Reserve System and the U.S. government. Let us apply this to other agencies:
The Department of Defense
The Department of the Treasury
The Department of State
The Department of Education
I could go on, one by one, to list all of the thousands of agencies that are funded by Federal taxes and which operate by means of the authority of the U.S. government. Only one government agency is defended by publicists, both on and off the payroll of the Federal Reserve System, as deserving to be independent of the government that has transferred authority to it: the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
The phrase, "the independence of the Federal Reserve System," is a code phrase for "the independence of the four largest U.S. banks from the threat of losses." A growing number of voters has figured this out since the fall of 2008. This is why the Federal Reserve System is facing public criticism for the first time since 1914. This criticism will grow.
All of this may seem Utopian. Ron Paul could not get Congress to audit the FED, which by law possesses this authority. The Congress has been in the hip pocket of the FED for almost a century. The Congress lets the FED run the nation's economy.
But as criticism spreads, there will be more voters who figure out what the FED is and has always been: a government-created cartel of the banks. It operates for the benefit of the largest banks.
Will Ron Paul get such a law passed by Congress and signed into law? No. Does this mean that the FED is forever untouchable? No.

Ron Paul: The ‘Big Event’ Has Started

Ron Paul: The 'Big Event' Has Started

"It's huge, and it has started," Paul said, and it may be identified as such within 30 days. "I believe it is the beginning… you and others have been talking about commodity prices going up." The Texas Congressman noted that even the former boss of the Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, has warned about out of control inflation.

"A necessary condition for long-term unemployment is low inflation," Greenspan said recently. "If the Fed does its job and stabilizes the inflation rate, that's the maximum that the central bank can do."

Ron Paul: The Big Event Has Started fedpumping

Greenspan failed to mention the fact that when the Federal Reserve prints a new fresh new batch of fiat paper money, it unleashes a devastating round of inflation. Quantitative Easing initiated by the Fed is just that – cranking up the printing machines. It created $600 billion out of thin air to purchase Treasuries and another nearly $300 billion for mortgage-backed securities. Pumping all that money into the economy is an engine for creating inflation.

It won't end with QE2, though. The plan to print gobs of money is open-ended. Late last year, the Fed said it will "regularly review the pace of its securities purchases and the overall size of the asset-purchase program in the light of incoming information and will adjust the program as needed."

As Lew Rockwell noted with tongue firmly planted in cheek, it makes sense to refer to it as QE[n], because the Fed has hinted it will soon begin QE3.

"These various attempts to restore the inebriated happy time have unpredictable and uncontrollable effects," said Rockwell in mid-March. "Bernanke would drive us right into hyperinflation to save his industries. Savers living on pensions just don't have the political clout to stop the money machine," he added.

Natural Birthright Citizenship: Birthright of Blood According to English Common Law

Natural Birthright Citizenship: Birthright of Blood According to English Common Law
ConstitutionallySpeaking ^ | April 6, 2011 | Linda Melin

Posted on Wednesday, April 06, 2011 5:48:35 PM by patlin

My research has finally come full circle with an absolute and irrefutable conclusion and I want to thank all the patriots whom inspired me to research "out of the box".

As I had already reported in my Congressional "Natural Born Citizen" series, in 1987 Michael Greve of the 'Reason Magazine' wrote that Prof. Lawrence Tribe is

[n]otorious for urging judges to go boldly where none have gone before…[T]ribe's pretenses are a thin cover for their effort to mobilize the Constitution for left-liberal causes

As we already know, Lawrence Tribe was Obama's law professor at Harvard whom Obama supposedly did extensive research for. What I conclude with, is research from the Harvard Law Review archives. Research that neither Tribe or Obama hoped would become public knowledge. For if this legal information cited by the US courts did become public; it would have immediately crushed Obama's eligibilty for the presidency. And that is why, when it came to testimony for S.Res. 511, "A Bill Proclaiming John Sidney McCain III a natural born citizen", Tribe was called in to give obfuscation to the exact meaning and intent of Article II qualifications for the presidency.

As I have said, the key to defining who the citizens are lies within the 14th Amendment phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" and more specifically, what "jurisdiction" does it pertain to? Therein lie the question which must be answered.

Facebook beginning to feel wrath of conservatives

Facebook beginning to feel wrath of conservatives
Yahoo! News ^ | April 6, 2011

It's a fairly typical day when Facebook has managed to spark the ire of man--including members of Congress, left and right--over its ever-evolving user privacy policies. Still, the company has managed to avoid pushing user patience to the point where people can't maintain at least a base level of friendship. No significant block of the population has been moved to walk away from the site, much less take to the streets in protest.

But now, fueled by yesterday's news that Facebook will host an online townhall meeting for the President, the company may be courting such a revolt by agitating a segment renowned for mobilizing and voicing their collective anger: modern conservative activists.

It's the latest in a growing far right versus Facebook battle that began when the New York Times' Andrew Ross Sorkin recently reported that the social media giant was in talks to offer millions to former Obama White House press secretary Robert Gibbs to run its communications operation. The prospect of the move immediately raised eyebrows on the right, exemplified in comments to a post by Mike Riggs on the conservative website the Daily Caller--which also pointed out that Facebook had already hired a number of Obama administration alumni.

"Crackbook would become much less addictive for conservative patriots" if the company hired Gibbs, opined one commenter. Another wrote, "More and more I might end up yanking my profile from facebook as each day goes by."

Biblical anti-Obama slogan: Use of Psalm 109:8 funny or sinister?
Christian Science Monitor ^ | 11/16/2009 | Tracey D. Samuelson

Psalms 109:8 says, 'Let his days be few; and let another take his office.' The citation is being passed around the Internet as a rallying cry against President Obama.

There's a new slogan making its way onto car bumpers and across the Internet. It reads simply: "Pray for Obama: Psalm 109:8"

A nice sentiment?

Maybe not.

The psalm reads, "Let his days be few; and let another take his office."

Hollywood's Red Dawn

Hollywood's Red Dawn
FrontPageMag.com ^ | 4-6-11 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on Wednesday, April 06, 2011 4:01:27 PM by UltraConservative

"One of the most dangerous plots ever instigated for the overthrow of this Government has its headquarters in Hollywood." The year was 1945. The speaker was Rep. John E. Rankin (D-Mississippi). The forum was the House Un-American Activities Committee.

Rankin was a racist, a bigot, and an overall nasty fellow. On this, however, he was absolutely right. The only problem is that he was 70 years too early. Of course, he was somewhat right when he spoke the words, too. Ronald Reagan was head of the Screen Actors Guild from 1947-1952, and again in 1959-1960. During that time, he watched as Communist revolutionaries infiltrated the unions, attempting to shut down the studios and turn the instruments of culture toward anti-American ideologies. They remained a vocal minority inside Hollywood, but a dangerous one.

Now, the threat is much greater. The threat remains Communist. It is no longer Russian, and it is no longer internal. The threat comes from abroad, and it comes in the form of cash.

The dirty little secret within Hollywood for the last decade has been the industry's reliance on Chinese cash. The Chinese movie audience is the fastest growing audience in the world; Fox, Warner, Sony and Disney have developed local programming for the Chinese market. James Cameron's Avatar — which, as an environmentalist critique of first world imperialism, you would figure the Chinese would love — earned over $200 million in country. 2012 and Transformers 2 also blew the doors off the box office in China. During 2010, move than 1,000 movie theaters opened.

Ron Paul a month away from presidential decision (Says he'll make announcement next month)

Ron Paul a month away from presidential decision (Says he'll make announcement next month)
CNN Politics ^ | 04/06/2011 | Alexander Mooney

Posted on Wednesday, April 06, 2011 3:34:21 PM by SeekAndFind

Ron Paul, the Texas congressman and libertarian with an army of followers, says he will decide on a third presidential bid "in a month or so."

But appearing on the Alex Jones Show, a syndicated radio program, Paul appeared to suggest Tuesday he is ready to take the plunge again

"We are getting awfully close, and there is just a few other things that I have to iron out personally to make my final decision. But it has to come," said Paul.

Paul's fundraising prowess in 2008 shocked the political establishment, though his legions of supporters failed to translate into strong Republican primary showings. Still, it's likely another Paul candidacy could shakeup the expected 2012 GOP presidential field, especially if the anti-government spending congressman resonates with a majority of Tea Party movement followers.

Meanwhile, Paul did not rule out a third-party presidential bid either.

"I guess in life, you should keep all options open. But right now, I'm still a Republican congressman and we did it last time as a Republican," he said.

Ron Paul: ‘New World Order’ Using Financial Crisis, Wars To Enhance Globalism

Ron Paul: 'New World Order' Using Financial Crisis, Wars To Enhance Globalism

Congressman Ron Paul, icon to liberty lovers the world over, sent a stark message this week to ruling elite "internationalists" attempting to expand globalism via the Western military industrial complex – you will fail.

Speaking on the nationally syndicated Alex Jones Show, Paul expressed his concern that a deeply malign form of globalism is being promoted and expanded on the back of international crises, namely the political upheaval in the middle east and north Africa, coupled with ongoing financial meltdown.

"The new world order people see it as an opportunity to move one step forward." Paul stated, alluding to an infamous description of the current US led international coalition of powers.

"Bush senior bragged about that, remember he didn't want to go to Congress, he came and got a token approval in 1990/91 for the Persian Gulf war, but he got his orders from the UN, he didn't need to go to Congress… That was the first time I heard a president use the words 'new world order', anyone who used that had to be a conspiracy nut, but Bush was saying this is what we need to do for the 'new world order'." Paul explained.

"They go to war under NATO and the UN, not by the Congress," Paul added. "But ultimately the big one is to control the money, so they are making their plans to have a world wide fiat currency through the IMF/World Bank operations."

As reported in the Financial Times and elsewhere recently, the IMF strongly advocates the eventual introduction of a global currency, called the "bancor", based on its own synthetic paper currency special drawing rights (SDRs), claiming it would "stabilise" the international monetary system.

"The new world order is certainly looking at this monetary crisis, we want the Constitution, sound money, gold and silver, but at the same time the internationalists are planning for their international fiat currency." Congressman Paul stated.

Two George Soros Events Aim to Remake the Financial Order and the Media -- So Where's
Fox News ^ | 4/6/11 | Dan Gainor

Posted on Wednesday, April 06, 2011 2:36:37 PM by Nachum

Apparently, megalomaniacs need schedulers.

Just ask George Soros. The left-wing billionaire is helping fund two major conferences that start on the same day, in two different locations just a three hours apart by car. Two liberal events packed into one long weekend. God created the world in six days. Apparently, Soros, who sees himself as "some kind of god,"needs just a long weekend to start remaking today's world in his image.

The emphasis of both conferences is a familiar one to American voters – change. Soros wants to begin changing the global economy in one event. In the other, his flunkies want to "Change the world. Change the media."

Now that is change you can believe in. Sadly, those who actually report the news must believe in it because they sure as heck aren't reporting on Soros or either event. And that's even though staffers or even executives from Reuters, the Financial Times, NPR, PBS, The Washington Post and other major media outlets are speaking at one event or the other.

Liberty Defined: 50 Essential Issues That Affect Our Freedom
The worst effect of the state is intellectual. It puts our brains in a prison, simply by defining the terms in which we are permitted to think and speak. The one nonnegotiable point becomes the state itself. You are permitted to argue about what the state's priorities ought to be (bombs or butter), but not to question the fundamental model of a state-dominated society.
Believers in human liberty have played along with this game for too long. They've done this for decades. Sometimes they tack right and sometimes they tack left. What they should be doing is upending the game board itself. They need boldly to make that fundamental claim of the old liberal tradition, that society orders itself without the state. Liberty is the answer in every area of life.
This is precisely what Ron Paul does in his amazing book.......................

Membership in the United Nations is Like Having Obama President for a Second Term - UNTHINKABLE
 By Jerry McConnell Full Story

I can think of a lot of different ways for the United States to commit national suicide, but none faster than remaining as a member of the United Nations.

On top of that, our leader in the White House is all for it; if he thought he could somehow get away with it, he would just signal his sub-rosa (they think) leaders, Soros and the Bilderberg Group of maniacally wealthy would-be despots who want to own the world and they would come marching in.

Why God Isn’t Doing Well. Our Creator isn’t very popular in our secularist, left-wing culture.

Why God Isn't Doing Well. Our Creator isn't very popular in our secularist, left-wing culture.

God is not doing very well these days.

Here are four reasons why:

The first is that increasingly large numbers of men and women attend university, and Western universities have become essentially secular (and leftist) seminaries. Just as the agenda of traditional Christian and Jewish seminaries is to produce religious Christians and religious Jews, the agenda of Western universities is to produce (left-wing) secularists. The difference is that Christian and Jewish seminaries are honest about their agenda, while the universities still claim they have neither a secularist nor a political agenda.

The more university education a person receives, the more likely he is to hold secular and left-wing views. The secular Left argues that this correlation is due to the fact that a college graduate knows more and thinks more clearly and therefore gravitates leftward and toward secularism. But if you believe that the average college graduate is a clear and knowledgeable thinker as a result of his or her time at university, I have more than one bridge to sell you. A radio talk-show host for 29 years, I long ago began asking callers who made foolish comments what graduate school they had attended. It takes higher education to learn that America and Israel are villains, that men and women have essentially the same natures, that human nature is good, that ever-larger governments create wealth, etc.

A second reason God is not doing well among Westerners these days is that many members of the Jewish and Christian clergy decided that their primary role was not to advocate their religion's moral and religious standards, but rather (1) to make congregants comfortable ("Don't call me 'Pastor' [or 'Rabbi,' or 'Father'], call me Jerry") and (2) to promulgate the values they learned at their secular left-wing universities.

A third reason God is not doing well is that most of the men and women who are products of this secular left-wing education (meaning a large majority of Western men and women) are theologically, intellectually, and emotionally ill-prepared to deal with all the unjust suffering in the world. I will never forget a Swedish pastor's reaction to the 1994 sinking of the Estonia, a ferry that capsized in the Baltic between Estonia and Sweden leaving 852 passengers and crew dead. He said he could not believe in a God who allowed such injustice to take place................

SHUT IT DOWN ~ Bob Lonsberry

SHUT IT DOWN

Shut it down.
If Obama and the Senate Democrats won't agree to enough cuts, shut it down.
The world won't end if the federal government takes a few days off.
And if it takes shutting down the gravy train to get the nation's attention, then let's do it. Let's remember that short-term inconvenience is nothing in the context of long-term survival.
And long-term survival is exactly what is at stake. The immoral imbalance of the federal budget threatens to destroy not just the American spirit, it threatens to destroy America.
That is not an exaggeration, that is not a figure of speech, it is a literal reality – a clear and present danger of excess. It threatens our economy, it threatens our security, it threatens our survival. History shows that no nation can long survive with this much debt and redistribution. The end of America as we know it is not science fiction, it is political probability – and not at some distant date, but within the near lifetimes of many now alive.
This is that important.
And while the president pretends that this is about politics, about gaining partisan advantage, as he leads us ever further into the post-patriotic world, his failed policies of borrow and spend were repudiated at the last election. We tried his way, the deficit exploded, the debt piled up, and the people said no.
And they will say no again next year.
In the doldrums of his Libyan war, in the week of the supposed shut down, while issues raged at home and abroad, he launched his re-election. He began asking for money and putting together organization. On the day he embraced Bush policies on trials at Guantanamo, he attacked Bush as the bogeyman of the right.
He's running for re-election.

Agenda 21 In One Easy Lesson...

Agenda 21 In One Easy Lesson
Awareness of Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development is racing across the nation as citizens in community after community are learning what their city planners are actually up to. As awareness grows, I am receiving more and more calls for tools to help activists fight back. Many complain that elected officials just won't read detailed reports or watch long videos. "Can you give us something that is quick, and easy to read that we can hand out," I'm asked. So here it is......

Wealth Through Decentralization ~ Gary North

Wealth Through Decentralization

The main reason why I have been able to make a lot of money, as well as crank out 50 volumes of books and so many articles that I cannot count them, is that no one told me to do it.
Simple, isn't it? It's called laissez-faire: let us alone.
One of the best presentations I have ever seen on applying this principle in organizations is here.
One of the reasons why the commercial real estate market is not going to recover to its 2007 heights is because companies that refuse to honor this principle are not growing or hiring, while companies that do honor it are growing and hiring. When the principle of laissez-faire is honored, the size of headquarters shrinks. Thus, the demand for existing commercial real estate shrinks.
The principle of laissez faire is a free market principle. My first five full-time jobs were with organizations run by free market advocates. All five men understood how to apply this libertarian principle.
So, why don't most large organizations adopt this principle? If it's profitable, the free market should adopt it. First, because the free market is not allowed to operate. Second, because people who get to the top of today's institutional pyramids want power more than money. They sacrifice profitability for personal power. They think that centralized power is more productive. They refuse to imitate profitable firms that are more decentralized.

This provides opportunities for smaller organizations whose owners and managers are more interested in output than control. Admittedly, there are not many of these people, but this is to their advantage . . . and yours, if you work for one of them.
APPLYING PARETO'S LAW

Vilfredo Pareto was a sociologist and economist in the late 19th century. He discovered what is now known as Pareto's law or the Pareto principle: the 20-80 law. I have found that it applies to what I do. About 80% of my output comes from what I do 20% of the time.
In any organization, 80% of the profits comes from 20% of the employees.
When you identify such employees, leave them alone. Give them general objectives. Give them measurable success indicators. Then get out of their way.
The support staffers must be more predictable. They must show up on time if the firm involves walk-in customers. These people must be predictable performers. But of necessity, they are replaceable, because they are predictable.
The correct goal is to get the unpredictable people unleashed. Unpredictable customers demand this.
The story of Henry Ford and Alfred Sloan illustrates the two approaches. Ford was a meddler. He ran a centralized firm. It was very productive from 1910 to 1920. But then General Motors overcame Ford's lead and far surpassed it.
Sloan decentralized the company. He set up multiple divisions. He had them compete against each other. He had them sell to specific income segments in the economy. He cut costs by large-scale purchases of common inputs.

He hired an inventor named Charles Kettering. He left Kettering alone. He paid him to invent. Kettering got partial ownership of his inventions. His inventions could then be used by all of the car brands within the company. He was incredibly productive. He also got rich. So did Sloan.
Creative people want to be left alone to do their work. The more that a firm can find ways to free up its employees, the more it can profit from their output.
Some employees prefer direction. They should be put in positions that are repetitive and predictable. Even in these jobs, life without interference from above is better. The managers should judge output more than labor inputs. They should offer training for staffers whose jobs require interaction with customers. Customers are not predictable.

THE COLLECTIVIST MINDSET IN EDUCATION
All of this seems counter-intuitive to the person who believes in output through central planning. This person sees himself as the key to other's productivity. Smart people tend to trust their own judgment. They do not trust the free market's ability to call forth productivity on a decentralized basis – what economist F. A. Hayek called the spontaneous order.
This faith in the salaried expert is the mindset of the classroom teacher, who sees academic success in terms of formal examinations, maintaining classroom order, and rote performance by students.
The great contemporary critic of this approach to education is John Taylor Gatto. Three times he was the Teacher of the Year in the New York City school systems. He was teacher of the year for New York state. Then he quit. He wrote an article for The Wall Street Journal on why he was leaving the tax-funded school system.
This article received so much support from readers that he decided to start a new career: persuading parents and students to become more creative in their formal educations, meaning dropping out of the tax-funded schools. He wrote his book, The Underground History of American Education. It covers the economic motivation of the founders of tax-funded compulsory education in America. He has posted it for free on his site.
His book complements R. J. Rushdoony's detailed study of the religious motivation of these pioneers, The Messianic Character of American Education (1963).
Lew Rockwell has interviewed Gatto on his experiences inside the educational system. Gatto makes the case of letting students alone.
The problem is this: the system educates students until they finally leave school. This may be as late as age 30 if they go on to graduate school. Their training is geared to meeting formal criteria set by tenured bureaucrats. They take business courses from people who have never run a business. They take education courses from people who have never taught in a non-government institution.
The standard of performance is therefore bureaucratic. It is top-down. But the free market is bottom-up. The customer has the most marketable commodity: money. He is in control, because everyone wants his money. Not everyone wants specific products and services. The seller is at a disadvantage: a narrower market for what he has to sell.
So, instead of training young people to meet demand by customers, the system trains them to meet demands imposed by bureaucrats who are not dependent on customers. The result is an education that must be replaced on the job, once the graduate enters the free market.

In contrast to this is the Khan Academy. It is a free site that takes students through the basics of a growing number of courses by video. From all over the world, students come 24x7. They can access the site at any time, study the courses at their own speed, review what they do not understand, and take exams. There is no one overseeing them. There is no one handing out grades.

This is laissez faire in action. It threatens the survival of bureaucratic education. The state-enforced certification system is now under assault. There is an alternative for self-motivated students.
PURSUING OUTPUT
When you look for institutions to support, look for those that are committed to decentralization, both philosophically and operationally.
When you think about your career, consider carefully the degree of independence that your present employer offers you. Are you subject to the constraints described in the initial video that I linked to? If so, you should think through the limits placed on your productivity.
What saved me from a life of middle-class income was the Ph.D. glut that hit in 1969. I was still in graduate school. By the time I was ready for the job market, there were almost no academic jobs.
I wrote my way into my first job in 1971. My employer had been publishing my articles for four years: the Foundation for Economic Education. I wrote because I liked to write, but also because FEE paid its outside authors well. I needed the money in grad school. When a senior staff member quit at FEE to take over as president of Hillsdale College, I was available. It was the right timing for all of us.
So, in graduate school, which is bureaucratic to the core, I learned how to produce for a publishing organization that was not certified by any government agency. It was not regulated, except to this extent: it could not publish politically partisan materials. I had no interest in doing that, then or now.
That experience was my life preserver. It had been thrown to me by someone who had gotten his start in the private sector, a man with no college education: Leonard E. Read. It was that life preserver that pulled me out of the swamp of higher education.
In the 1970s, I increased my skills in marketing. By 1979, I was completely independent of any single employer. I was dependent on 22,000 paying subscribers.
We are always dependent on others. The division of labor assures this. But to be independent of any one employer is a great benefit. This is not what the system of formal education teaches. It teaches the opposite.
It is also what parents teach their children by paying them a fixed, guaranteed allowance. Stop!
When we pursue output in service of others, we master the fundamental principle of profitability. We learn that the customer is the source of our wealth. The sooner we learn this, the better.
Yet our society does not teach this principle............................
