I agree with everything this video says except for not needing a state. The Founding Fathers wanted a state to protect private property rights and I dont see how private property can exist without a state but everything else in this video is pure truth.

WASHINGTON — We finally know how President Barack Obama wants us to handle our nation's crippling national debt. If we can believe his words, the president intends to ignore the monster under the bed — Social Security entitlements — while he raises taxes and cuts deeply into our nation's defense. Haven't we heard this song before?

On April 13, more than a week after Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., provided a detailed "Choice of Two Futures" blueprint for how the GOP would reduce our disastrous deficit, Obama showed up late at George Washington University to describe how he now wants to fix the problem he failed to address in his fiscal year 2012 federal budget proposal. The geniuses at the White House decided to call the president's address "The Country We Believe In." Set aside the grammatical anomaly of ending the title with a preposition.

Politicians, economists and lobbyists of every stripe and persuasion already have begun dissecting who among us will have to pay more in taxes and how much it will be. "Experts" and pundits are doing their best to defend which model will best serve the purposes of their respective constituencies on the left and right. What the competing analysts seem to have missed is the stark difference in how our elected officials view the federal government's most crucial responsibility: national defense.

Ryan's 73-page "Path to Prosperity" proffers a detailed analysis supported by voluminous Congressional Budget Office numbers on how we arrived at our current fiscal mess — and a reasonable rationale for determining how we should address catastrophic deficits that would bankrupt our children. His plan includes comprehensive legislative proposals for changes in current federal health care, retirement security, job training policies and other "entitlements."
Ryan wisely avoids suggesting specific changes in national defense programs necessary to protect the American people from current adversaries and deter likely threats in the future. Instead, he urges defense spending be determined as the Framers of our Constitution intended — by Congress — and that our legislators do so within a binding cap on overall spending based on a percentage of gross domestic product.

Conversely, Obama's plan for "winning the future," though devoid of any essential CBO data, takes any changes in Social Security off the table for the foreseeable future. The president did, however, offer the usual progressive panacea for solving our disastrous deficit: Congress must make what he calls "the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans" pay more — much more — in taxes, and we must spend less — much less — on national security.
In his belated 43-minute campaign-style attack on the GOP budget proposal, POTUS urged increased "investment" in his pet projects: new federal spending on "clean energy," government-funded "education programs" and "transportation infrastructure." He offered only one concrete idea for reduced spending: a very specific $400 billion cut in national defense.

This revelation on how our soldiers, sailors, airmen, guardsmen and Marines would pay their "fair share" of Obama's multi-trillion-dollar deficit reduction program was tucked neatly into the midpoint of his remarks. After blithely promising to "never accept cuts that compromise our ability to defend our homeland or America's interests around the world," he said, "We need to not only eliminate waste and improve efficiency and effectiveness, but we're going to have to conduct a fundamental review of America's missions, capabilities and our role in a changing world."

Exactly what Obama meant by that statement is unknown. No one argues with the need to eliminate waste, fraud or abuse at the Pentagon or anywhere else in the federal government. But how he came up with the $400 billion figure has stumped his own defense secretary, Robert Gates. Immediately after the president's exposition, a Pentagon spokesman noted that cuts this deep would require the U.S. to "abandon some military missions and trim troop levels." House Armed Services Committee Chairman Howard "Buck" McKeon expressed "grave concerns" about the cuts "while our troops are fighting in three different theaters."

This new promise of a "fundamental review" of roles, missions and capabilities ought to concern us all. Our present defense outlays for everything from pay and benefits to force levels to the acquisition of aircraft, ships, tanks and trucks were set by a congressionally mandated Quadrennial Defense Review in 2010. Added to this are supplemental appropriations required to fund the costs of current military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.

Does Obama's just announced review of our place in this new world disorder supplant the findings of last year's QDR? Is America's new "role" circumscribed or expanded by the president's most recently described "responsibility to protect" civilians from despots? Does it include civilians endangered from tyrants other than Moammar Gadhafi?

Only our commander in chief knows the answers to these questions. Certainly, no one wants to believe that the president of the United States would dissemble or simply make up the numbers to appease his left-wing base. But either Barack Obama is busted for creative accounting or our troops are broke. Let's hope it's not the troops.

VERDICT: Former UN weapons inspector Ritter guilty of unlawful contact with minor

VERDICT: Former UN weapons inspector Ritter guilty of unlawful contact with minor

Pocono Record ^ | April 14, 2011 | Pocono Record

Former U.N. chief weapons inspector Scott Ritter has been found guilty of unlawful contact with minors and five lesser charges after a three-day trial in Monroe County Court on charges stemming from an online sex sting.

Ritter, 49, of Delmar, N.Y., was found guilty of unlawful contact with a minor for masturbating on a Web camera and engaging in a sexually graphic online chat with an undercover Barrett Township police officer posing as a 15-year-old girl in 2009.
The jury deliberated for more than six hours after the prosecution and defense both gave closing arguments in the morning.
During the trial, the defense portrayed Ritter as a family man and decorated veteran, even suggesting he could be a victim of a conspiracy for his outspoken criticism of the 2003 Iraq war. Ritter's legal team tore apart the techniques used by Barrett Township officer Ryan Venneman in conducting the sting.
Meanwhile, the prosecution pointed to similar accusations surrounding Ritter in New York state back in 2001. In both incidents, he was accused of arranging to meet with teenage girls – who turned out to be undercover cops.

Ritter was never arrested in the first case, receiving only a warning, and the charges were later dropped in the second incident after he agreed to seek professional help.
Ritter said his controversial 1998 resignation from his U.N. job drove him into a self-destructive depression that led to those incidents. He said he knew the teenage girls he met online were really undercover officers.
As to the most recent charges against him, Ritter said he once again was feeling depressed, but thought the “girl” he was chatting with was really an adult playing out a fantasy of being a teen who likes older men.
Ritter, 49, of Delmar, N.Y., was the U.N.'s chief weapons inspector in Iraq following the first Gulf War. He accused the United States government and U.N. of failing to take action when Iraq blocked inspectors from suspected weapons sites in 1998, leading to his resignation.

But he later became an outspoken critic of the 2003 Iraq war, insisting the country had destroyed its weapons of mass destruction.

I caught Obama top advisor David Plouffe on ABC's "This Week" trying to discredit Donald Trump on the matter of Obama's fight to avoid furnishing an actual birth certificate.
As my friend and scholar I.M. Kane at The Millstone Diaries wrote today, “Trump knows that he could end up king or kingmaker if he succeeds in exposing the biggest fraud ever perpetuated on the people of the United States.”

I agree 100 percent and would like to add that even if Obama was born in the United States of America, I believe he is –still- the biggest fraud ever perpetrated against the United States by virtue of his conning millions of Dance with the Stars/American Idol consumed droids into believing that he is anything less than a radical communist.
Going back to the disturbing question of The Saboteur’s origins, Trump raises a valid point. It really is surreal how... (continued)

Red Pill Review
April 14, 2011
This review from our Red Pill Documentaries page covers Police State 4-The Rise of FEMA which was released in 2010. The Rise of FEMA is the latest version of the Alex Jones Police State documentaries, and centers around the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
In this film Jones points out that this government agency has been building internment camps all over the United States, for purposes that include detention of U.S. citizens. The film also shows the executive orders, which allows FEMA to suspend the bill of rights and place us under martial law with no authority from Congress.
Jones jam-packs this documentary with tons of great information regarding the loss of our rights and freedoms. He also gives us government documents that show for a fact that through executive order after executive order following 911, our Bill of Rights has been completely dismantled.

The fact that the film shows the government’s own documents and gives the viewers the government’s own web sites where they can research this information, makes it a must watch for anybody who still believes that our government upholds the Constitution.
Jones points too many recent incidences wherein the U.S military was used against our fellow citizens, including the disarmament of the citizens of Louisiana following hurricane Katrina. The very fact that our soldiers have busted into our homes and forcefully taken our weapons is an act of war and must not be tolerated.

Any soldier who acts out against his own people is a traitor and guilty of the worst kind of treason. Anybody who believes that following orders excuses them from wrong, needs to look into the Nuremburg Trials and see what happens to soldiers who betray the citizens of their country............................................

Why does a moving bicycle not fall over? TU Delft casts aside some old theories

Why does a moving bicycle not fall over? TU Delft casts aside some old theories

Delft University of Technology ^ | April 14, 2011 | M&C

Given sufficient forward speed, a bicycle pushed sideways, will not fall over. Scientists have been trying to find a conclusive explanation for this remarkable characteristic for over a century. This week, researchers at TU Delft have thrown new light on the question in a publication in Science.

Staying stable
The research at TU Delft, in collaboration with scientists from Cornell University (USA), centred on the following intriguing question: why is a bicycle self stable, above a certain speed? You add speed to a bike and can then give it a sideways push without it falling over.
Rotating wheels
Scientists have long been poring over this complicated question, even from as far back as the nineteenth century. Until recently, the consensus within the scientific community was that the stability was very closely related to two factors. First, the rotating wheels of the bicycle were supposed to provide stability through gyroscopic effects. Secondly, it was thought that the ‘trail’ played an important part. Trail is the distance by which the contact point of the front wheel trails behind the steering axis.

Predicting
The publication by TU Delft in Science puts paid to this old notion once and for all. 'We have known for years that the generally accepted explanation for the stability of the bicycle was too simple,' says researcher Dr Arend Schwab of the 3mE faculty at TU Delft. 'Gyroscopic effects and trail do help, but are not essential for stability.' Dr Schwab and a number of colleagues brought out a publication several years ago on the theory behind the stability of the bicycle (in 2007 in Proceedings of the Royal Society, doi:10.1098/rspa.2007.1857).

Tracy Morgan: I Have Obama's Birth Certificate and Trump Has Illegitimate Black Son

TV Squad ^ | April 14, 2011 | Jeremy Taylor

During the first half of 'The Daily Show' (weekdays, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), one of Jon Stewart's bits involved the news that Donald Trump has sent investigators to Hawaii to look into Barack Obama's birth.
'Daily Show' guest Tracy Morgan must have been watching in the dressing room, because when he joined Stewart onstage, Morgan had a message for The Donald. "I just want to reply to the Donald Trump thing," Morgan said. "Donald, I got [Obama's birth] certificate. It ain't in Hawaii, it's in Brooklyn. Come and get it if you want to see it."

Then Morgan claimed that he had people investigating Trump, and that his investigators had discovered Trump had fathered a child in Harlem that he doesn't acknowledge.
"Little black boy with blue eyes and hair that go like this," was how Morgan described Trump's illegitimate son. "Come see that boy. Come see that boy, Donald."
This is how Internet smear campaigns get started.

While Canadians are watching our national election unfold, the 2012 U.S. presidential race is taking a turn for the bizarre.
A few months ago, I said the field would essentially freeze at Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich because those candidates had too much profile to allow lesser dark horse candidates to thrive.

Primaries are tribal clashes. The four main tribes of the Republican Party (social conservatives, Tea Partiers, the wealthy, neo-conservatives) each have a horse in the race, and they aren’t going to leave that candidate for a less appealing figure with no natural constituency. There just aren’t very many paths for an unknown Senator or Governor to get the votes to win.

The thesis failed to account for the possibility of another high wattage public figure entering the race, which is what happened. Donald Trump is now tied for first among Republican primary voters, in the latest CNN poll.
Trump 19% / Huckabee 19% / Palin 12% / Gingrich 11% / Romney 11% / Paul 7% / Bachman 5% / Daniels 3% / Pawlenty 2%
Question: What does this poll mean? Well, it sure made Barack Obama’s month. The leading seven candidates for the Republican nomination are badly damaged.
A good test of a candidate’s electability is if you can summarize their negatives in a bumper sticker. Here is a very quick scan of the Republican field:
Trump: Bankrupted casinos? You’re fired

Huckabee: Raised taxes, and pardoned convict who killed four cops
Palin: She can see Russia from her house
Gingrinch: Left his wife while she was in the hospital for cancer, and government shutdown
Romney: RomneyCare is basically ObamaCare, and his flip-flops and Mormonism

Washington, D.C. – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement on tomorrow’s House vote on the Republican budget:

“The vote you’ll cast tomorrow presents a clear choice between millionaires and the middle class. Whose side are you on?

“It will also answer for the country this question: Are Republicans serious about reducing the deficit, or are they going to continue pretending we can do it without asking millionaires, billionaires and corporations to pay their fair share?

“Our federal budget is like any family’s budget in that there are two columns: what we take in and what we spend. We can’t have a serious conversation about balancing the budget until Republicans stop pretending that the ledger has only one side.”

Via Weasel Zippers comes a provocative op-ed in the Boston Globe by Alan J. Kuperman, a professor of public affairs at the University of Texas and the author of The Limits of Humanitarian Intervention. The op-ed is titled “False pretense for war in Libya?”
Kuperman claims that President Barack Obama “grossly exaggerated the humanitarian threat” in Libya in order to justify military action there.
Last month, Obama said that U.S. military involvement in Libya was necessary in order to avoid “blood bath” and “humanitarian catastrophe.”
The president said, “If we waited one more day, Benghazi . . . could suffer a massacre that would have reverberated across the region and stained the conscience of the world.”
Notwithstanding the harrowing tale of alleged Libyan rape victim Iman al-Obeidi, Kuperman says that new data from Human Rights Watch paints a very different picture of what’s actually happening on the ground in Libya.
Kuperman:

But Human Rights Watch has released data on Misurata, the next-biggest city in Libya and scene of protracted fighting, revealing that Moammar Khadafy is not deliberately massacring civilians but rather narrowly targeting the armed rebels who fight against his government.

Breaking: Newly Obtained Homeland Security Documents Reveal Radical Shift In Internet Policy

FIGHT BACK: Internet user arrested for linking to other websites.

UPDATE:  Lots of coverage of our efforts this week. THE HILL: Groups slam online piracy efforts; TECHDIRT: People Across Political Spectrum Come Out Against COICA Censorship Bill; CONGRESSIONAL QUARTERLY: Online piracy bipartisan domain; POLITICO: Groups blast Leahy piracy bill.

ORIGINAL: Brian McCarthy ran a website, channelsurfing.net, that linked to various sites where you could watch online streams of TV shows and sports networks. A couple months ago, the government seized his domain name and on Friday they arrested him and charged him with criminal copyright infringement -- punishable by five years in prison.
We just obtained a copy of the complaint (below) that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made against him -- and they don't even allege that he made a copy of anything!   Just that he ran what they call a "linking website" which linked to various sites with copyrighted material. Under that sort of thinking, everyone who's sent around a link to a copyrighted YouTube video is a criminal.

This is another shocking overreach by DHS and ICE -- a steamship-era department that's proving once again that it doesn't understand the Internet. We need to push back -- and fast -- before they try to lock up more Americans.

PETITION TO JANET NAPOLITANO, DIRECTOR OF HOMELAND SECURITY, AND JOHN MORTON, DIRECTOR OF IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT:  There's nothing wrong or illegal about posting a link to a website.  This is another shocking overreach by DHS and ICE:  You need to drop the charges against Brian McCarthy right away.

RUSH: This is Jason in Atlanta. Great to have you on the program, sir. You are up first.
CALLER: Hey, Rush. It's an honor to talk to you, man.
RUSH: Thanks.
CALLER: Hey listen, man, I am outraged with Boehner and I'm outraged with this old guard Republican. I mean, I'm telling you, I'm livid to the point I e-mailed Boehner yesterday and told him he would never get a dime from me again. I'll never support the Republican Party again.
RUSH: Well --

CALLER: These guys... Boehner was on Hannity yesterday, Rush, saying he fought like a dog for this $38 billion. Fought like a dog. And now we're finding out that it's not even in the billions, we're talking millions.
RUSH: Yeah. Yeah.
CALLER: And I'm trying to figure out at what point, Rush, do we say this party's rotgut from the inside and we've gotta break from it, maybe get behind the Tea Party, a third party. Maybe get behind the FairTax, do something that's gonna make a difference.
RUSH: You don't want a third party. What we want to do is (ah, I'm not particularly crazy about the phrase, but) "take over" the Republican Party. Look, I know John Boehner. I played golf with John Boehner. He's a fine man. I want everybody to know that. It's unfortunate that he's being (sighs) not "slurred," but he's coming in for it.

I mean, he's getting his share of criticism as events unfold and information is gleaned. He's a fine man, folks. He's what we would all say in the common parlance, is a good guy. I think that different forms of leadership. You got caretaker, you have aggressive. In this case, I don't know for certain what the objective of the leadership is.

Best I can tell, they don't really think they've won anything. If you had to nail me down, if you had to pin me down to try to get me to explain this -- my wild guess would be that if we could get in their heads -- they don't think they've won anything yet, and they're not gonna act like it. When Boehner says we are, what, "one half of one-third," that's not the kind of talk you get from people who think they've won something. You and I think we had a shellacking win in November.

But they don't. They don't think they won anything, yet. Plus there's in natural fear. I've explained it. I don't have time to go into it again. There's this natural fear of Democrats, the media, and Obama specifically in the Beltway.

We may soon learn about the priorities of the Voting Section of the Department of Justice. Fresh off the whitewash of the voter intimidation dismissal against the New Black Panther Party, the DOJ has received a request to monitor upcoming elections in Southbridge, Massachusetts. It seems the mounting possibility of voter intimidation may plague the upcoming municipal contest. The culprit? This billboard:

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you. This billboard is part of a campaign encouraging Bay State citizens to voluntarily show photo identification even though the law does not require it. A Boston Globe story “Voter ID billboard irks Latino advocates” describes people foaming at the mouth over the billboard. After all, Americans voluntarily offering to show photo ID when they vote provides a devastating counterweight to the legions of photo identification opponents. If people are willing to show it when they don’t have to, what does that say about the opponents who equate laws requiring photo identification to the second coming of Jim Crow? I do not overstate the comparison, see the cover of this report by the Soros-funded Advancement Project.

This seems like an effort at political speech, designed to devastate the credibility of photo identification opponents.

So what is more intimidating: black panthers with billy clubs, or billboards urging citizens to voluntarily show photo identification? I’d lay odds that right now inside the Voting Section, you’d find more votes for the billboard. The two photos, the lady on the billboard vs. the black panthers, serve as a DOJ Rorschach test. Hold both up, and watch what happens in the next few weeks.

We already know that when you hold up the photo of the black panthers, DOJ attorneys think the panthers were simply well known community members exercising their free speech rights and possessing polling place credentials issued by the Philadelphia Democratic Party.

No big deal. But if DOJ announces they are going to monitor elections in Southbridge before the May 10 runoff, that means that the other Rorschach test, the billboard of the lady and her photo identification, conjures feelings of Jim Crow, poll taxes and howling mobs aimed at disenfranchising people of color. Of course here at PJM, we will monitor and report. This might get fun.

New-minted birther, real estate developer and reality-show host Donald Trump continued his flirtation with a White House run Thursday, saying he’d love to run as a Republican, but he wouldn’t rule out running as an independent if he had too.
“It’s not the case that it would be nothing,” he told Talk 1300′s Fred Dicker, who asked him if would only run on the GOP line.

“It’s not something that I want to do. I want to run as a Republican. I don’t want to run as an independent,” he said later, adding he believes he could beat President Barack Obama.
The current state of affairs in Washington and the nation in general, Trump said is “Jimmy Carter-esque.”

Trump didn’t refute a report on the conservative Newsmax web site that he would make an announcement on the May 15 airing of his show “Celebrity Apprentice,” although that wouldn’t be a presidential nod — at least not on the show.

“As you know, I can’t announce during the show, I really can’t,” he said.

WHEN MY MOTHER was 12, she walked from the projects of West Baltimore to the beauty shop at North Avenue and Druid Hill, and for the first time in her life, was relaxed. It was 1962. Black, bespectacled, skinny, and buck-toothed, Ma was also considered to have the worst head of hair in her family. Her tales of home cosmetology are surreal. They feature a hot metal comb, the kitchen stove, my grandmother, much sizzling, the occasional nervous flinch, and screaming and scabbing.

Here's Why The World Is Going To End On May 21, 2011 (Will Harold Camping be Proven Right?)

Business Insider ^ | 04/14/2011 | Gus Lubin

We picked up a pamphlet in Union Square to see why so many people are talking about the world ending on May 21, 2011.

It turns out the theory comes down to two numerological proofs.
The first proof is based on Genesis 7:4, when God said to Noah: "Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made."

When God referred to seven days, he meant both seven days and seven thousand years, because "one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." The flood occurred in 4990 BC. Seven thousand years later is 2011. (Remember, there's no year 0.)
The second proof looks at the significance of the number of days between the Crucifixion and May 21, 2011.

There are 722,500 days between these dates. 722,500 is a significant number because it is composed of the significant numbers 5x10x17x5x10x17. Five signifies redemption; ten signifies completion; and 17 signifies heaven. The numbers represent the day of redemption (5) and the Christian era (10) and the ascent to heaven (17) -- and these factors are doubled for added significance.

We'll know for sure in 27 days.

Democrat 2012 hopeful, Barack Obama was scheduled to give a speech about the budget yesterday; but, instead he delivered a screed expressing his personal frustration over our collective resistance to Marxist principles.

Never one given to originality, Obama fell back on the standard tax-the-rich twaddle in his fact-free diatribe. At no point did the president offer up any coherent plans for reducing our destructive deficit.

El Presidente would have us believe that government is the source of all good in our lives, irrespective of mountains of evidence to the contrary. No, Mr. President, America did not achieve greatness because of, but rather in spite of the government.

Yet another poorly drafted and ineptly executed rant by our deeply troubled, anti American president.

Is Hell Dead?

Is Hell Dead?

Time ^ | Thursday, Apr. 14, 2011 | Jon Meacham

[snip] Traditionally, the key is the acknowledgment that Jesus is the Son of God, who, in the words of the ancient creed, "for us and for our salvation came down from heaven ... and was made man." In the Evangelical ethos, one either accepts this and goes to heaven or refuses and goes to hell.

Bell, a tall, 40-year-old son of a Michigan federal judge, begs to differ. He suggests that the redemptive work of Jesus may be universal — meaning that, as his book's subtitle puts it, "every person who ever lived" could have a place in heaven, whatever that turns out to be.

[snip] Particularly galling to conservative Christian critics is that Love Wins is not an attack from outside the walls of the Evangelical city but a mutiny from within — a rebellion led by a charismatic, popular and savvy pastor with a following. Is Bell's Christianity — less judgmental, more fluid, open to questioning the most ancient of assumptions — on an inexorable rise?

"I have long wondered if there is a massive shift coming in what it means to be a Christian," Bell says. "Something new is in the air."

Pentagon: Mexican Drug Cartels Threaten Entire U.S.

Pentagon: Mexican Drug Cartels Threaten Entire U.S.

Should Americans believe Janet Napolitano’s rosy picture of a U.S.-Mexico border that’s “as secure as it has ever been” or a Pentagon assessment that it’s actually a gateway for Mexican criminal organizations that have infiltrated the entire country and joined forces with terrorist groups?

For months the nation’s Homeland Security Secretary has repeatedly insisted that everything is hunky dory on the southwest border, even as violence escalates and overwhelmed federal agents are increasingly attacked by heavily armed drug smugglers. Just last month Napolitano declared that violence along the Mexican border is merely a mistaken “perception” because the area is safe and “open for business.” Furthermore, Madame Secretary assured that “some of America’s safest communities are in the Southwest border region….”

A top Pentagon official contradicts that fairytale assessment, pointing out that Mexican criminal organizations extend well beyond the southwest border to cities across the country, including big ones like Atlanta, Chicago and Detroit. Addressing a U.S. Senate hearing this week, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counternarcotics and Global Threats William Wechsler warned lawmakers that all their constituencies are confronted by the threat of Mexican drug cartels.

Even more alarming is that, once in the United States, Wechsler says the Mexican criminal groups are becoming more dangerous by forming networks with each other and insurgent or terrorist groups. In some regions the “threat networking” not only engages in drug trafficking but kidnapping, armed robbery, extortion and other serious crimes.

The threat is so great that the assistant Defense Secretary offered federal legislators military assistance in the name of protecting national security.

“Many of the global and regional terrorists who threaten inter
ests of the United States finance their activities with proceeds from narcotics trafficking,” Wechsler reminded, adding that “extremist and international criminal networks frequently exploit local geographical, political or social conditions to establish safe havens from which they can operate with impunity.”

Who could have imagined that the words 'Jon Stewart,' 'praise,' and 'Bill O'Reilly' would ever be mentioned in the same breath? Well nay-sayers, eat your hearts out. Merely a week after lambasting former Fox conservative pundit Glenn Beck on his primetime cable hit, Jon Stewart took to The Daily Show to address another familiar face on Fox this time only to sing the praises of Bill O'Reilly, a popular TV host in his own right on Fox's The O'Reilly Factor.

In a segment cryptically titled "Tales of Principled Behavior," Stewart criticized Republican Presidential hopeful and business honcho Donald Trump, former vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, and Representative Michele Bachmann for spreading doubts over Obama's place of birth. In reference to Trump's statement on The Today Show regarding personally funding a research team in Hawaii to prove his belief that Obama was not born in the United States, Stewart impersonated one of Trump's researchers by sardonically putting on a pair of sunglasses and drinking a cocktail, while speaking in an accent that sounded conspicuously similar to the cast of Jersey Shore.

Stewart then played a segment of The O'Reilly Factor in which O'Reilly countered any accusations about Obama's birthplace and birth certificate, concluding that "the President is a controversial guy...but he does deserve to be treated honestly does he not?"

The camera then returned to Stewart who led the audience in applause and motioned tipping his cap, or yamaca as Stewart joked, to O'Reilly, a figure who he is more often than not at odds with.

Although Stewart sarcastically lamented the exit of Glenn Beck from Fox, he certainly has a partner-in-crime in O'Reilly regardless of whether or not he agrees with him, as their reciprocality makes for great TV.

How not to win wars

April 14, 2011

Ever wonder why the US military can’t win wars? Why a few ragtag guerillas could send it running out of Somalia (Black Hawk Down)? Why one guy with a truck bomb could chase the Marines out of Lebanon? Why the attempt to rescue the hostages in Iran was such a disaster? Why the world’s most expensive military can’t win its unending wars against peasants with rifles? How is this possible?

Different jobs attract different personalities. The Mike Tysons of the world do not go into ballet, nor do the Mother Teresas become tank commanders.

The career military attracts people who run from the merely abnormal to the frankly weird. For example, they place extreme value on ritual and ceremony, on ribbons and medals and colored things more appropriate to a Christmas tree than to a human being.

They are authoritarian by nature, comfortable in a rigid, hierarchical, and conformist society that most of us would find equally unbearable and absurd. Suppose your boss told everyone in the office that they had to wear exactly the same clothes and stand at attention in the morning to that he could determine whether they had dressed themselves correctly.

Militaries start with odd material..............................

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on Thursday told Republican lawmakers that they would shoulder the blame if the country got too close to defaulting on its debt and roiled markets worldwide by not approving a debt limit increase.

In yet another warning about the perils of not allowing the U.S. to borrow more to fund already spending already approved by Congress, Geithner said it would be deeply irresponsible for lawmakers to use debt limit negotiations for political gains.
Congress must agree to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling or the legal amount that the country can borrow. But Republicans have said they are unwilling to do so without reforms on government spending and have threatened to take negotiations to the deadline.

"(Lawmakers) will say there's leverage in it, we can advance it. But that would be deeply irresponsible and they will own the risk," Geithner said.

"It won't happen in the end, but if they take it too close to the edge, they will own responsibility for that miscalculation," he said.

O will win the debt debate because Americans are not ready to cut social services, spare wealthy

New York Daily News ^ | Thursday, April 14th 2011 | Joshua Greenman

President Obama is going to win the debt debate with House Republicans, for one simple reason:
As troubled as Americans are about the ocean of red ink in which we're treading, as ready as they are to make some sacrifices, they are not willing to make major upfront cuts to valued pieces of the social safety net while sparing the wealthiest among us the slightest tax increase.
And they're not willing to make such cuts while completely sparing the defense budget from the conversation.
Yet that's what Rep. Paul Ryan's plan would do.
Voters are especially not prepared to make these cuts while reducing income taxes on the wealthiest Americans from 36% to 25%, as Ryan would have us do.
Not when, as of 2008, about one-fifth of all income was received by just 1% of earners.
Not when the top 1% of Americans by net worth hold about a third of the country's wealth.
Not when Wall Street bonuses keep rolling in.

Not when median incomes in recent years are flat or falling.
Call this class warfare if you like - it's just basic politics, and what Democrats will call fundamental fairness.
The vast majority knows that the fortunate few can pay a bit more and in the process take the edge off growing pains for the rest of us.
Yes, the debt is a huge problem - and liberals who pooh-pooh the mind-blowing $14 trillion we owe and want to keep borrowing and spending at current rates are delusional.
Liberals who say any reduction to Medicare and Medicaid amount to criminal assault on grandma and apple pie are being histrionic.
But it's just as delusional to believe that the problem can be solved almost entirely by targeting health spending on seniors and the poor.

It's just as histrionic to suggest that a modest tax increase on the wealthy - to Clinton-era levels - will kill jobs, which is exactly what House Speaker John Boehner said yesterday.
None of this means the road for Obama will be easy.
In the coming weeks and months, he and fellow Democrats will have to explain exactly how their plans will slow the growth of Medicare and Medicaid over time.
The President was vague on this point.
And he was unfair to suggest that Republicans want to choke off all investments in the country's future. Even under the Ryan plan, there would be plenty of spending on lots of important priorities.

Come 2012, Obama will be debating a real candidate, not a straw man.
But politically speaking, he got the broad strokes right:
Do not spare the defense budget entirely; we can make modest cuts that preserve our ability to protect ourself. Lean a little more heavily on millionaires and billionaires. The core message will resonate with independents. It will carry the day.

After initially drawing praise for extracting spending concessions while averting a government shutdown, Speaker John Boehner now finds himself on the defense against conservatives who feel they were duped regarding the amount of cuts the bill would entail. It began with a trickle. While most conservatives initially appeared satisfied with the deal Boehner struck, a few leaders, such as Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), signaled early that they might oppose the deal.

Pence, for example, told Fox News he would probably vote against the budget deal, but added that Speaker Boehner “got a good deal”. A few others, like Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, flatly said they would vote against it.

Ever since Donald Trump began soaking up media attention around his possible 2012 presidential run, he's faced plenty of detractors claiming that he's simply using all the 2012 speculation to shore up his celebrity brand.
The latest turn in the Trump political saga isn't exactly going to silence that line of criticism.

The real estate mogul has chosen the season finale of his NBC reality show, "The Apprentice" as the venue for announcing his presidential decision, Newsmax reported late Wednesday. The show is set to air May 15. Newsmax reports that Trump will announce plans to hold a press conference to announce his candidacy in the Trump Tower in New York "a few days after" the finale.
Trump had previously stated he would wait until June to make a final decision about about a presidential campaign.

Newsmax's Ronald Kessler defended Trump from charges of cynical media manipulation. Kessler noted Thursday that even after Trump announces his campaign, he'll still be accused of staging a campaign for publicity. "But that defies the facts and common sense," Kessler wrote. "Of all the people on the planet, Donald Trump is the last person who needs more publicity. And if he is riding a groundswell of support, why would he—or anyone else—decide not to run?"

"Our true choice is not between tax reduction, on the one hand, and the avoidance of large Federal deficits on the other. It is increasingly clear that no matter what party is in power, so long as our national security needs keep rising, an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenues to balance our budget just as it will never produce enough jobs or enough profits…

In short, it is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now" -President of the United States of America John F. Kennedy

New Media Catches Obama Bribing the Fourth Estate

New Media Catches Obama Bribing the Fourth Estate

Townhall.com ^ | April 14, 2011 | Howard Rich

Posted on Thursday, April 14, 2011 9:43:57 AM by Kaslin

For years, America’s left-leaning mainstream media outlets have belittled and rebuked members of the new media — questioning their credibility, impugning their integrity and assigning all manner of self-serving motivations to their contributions to the marketplace of ideas.
In the immediate aftermath of the tragic Tucson shooting earlier this year, the legacy press took it a step further — essentially implying that the new media was complicit in the attack on U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords by virtue of the “climate of hate” it helped create in America.
Obviously, the facts of the Tucson case quickly (and completely) debunked this theory — but not before a parade of liberal talking heads had spewed a torrent of reckless vitriol on new media outlets and the First Amendment freedom they exercise.

Fast-forward three months to April 6, when reporter Matthew Boyle of The Daily Caller published a report outlining the details of Barack Obama’s socialized medicine slush fund.
Boyle’s report — like hundreds of investigative pieces published every day by new media outlets — was in and of itself a rebuke of many of the criticisms leveled against Internet journalists by the legacy press. Not only did Boyle accurately relate new primary source material — including excerpts from public documents and Congressional testimony — but he also sought, received and published the response of those with conflicting views regarding this information. On top of that, he presented the facts sans any editorial commentary.
In other words, Boyle’s investigative report was every bit as “pure” journalistically as something you would read in The Washington Post or watch on the CBS Evening News.
Which brings us to the substance of Boyle’s article — the hundreds of thousands of dollars that The Post and CBS have received from the Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP), an Obamacare slush fund that has arbitrarily doled out nearly $2 billion to select corporations, government pension funds and labor unions within the last year.
The very existence of this fund — which has been touted as a means of protecting health care coverage prior to the onset of Obama’s unconstitutional socialized medicine law — highlights the dangers inherent in giving government additional control over the health care marketplace. Not only is this fund rife with corruption and mismanagement — as evidenced by these payments to media outlets that are supposed to objectively cover Obamacare — but its borrowed billions have failed to accomplish their objective.

For example, last October Minnesota-based 3M announced that it would no longer offer health insurance to its 23,000 employees thanks to the passage of Obamacare. Meanwhile Chicago-based Boeing is one of several large corporations now requiring its employees to pay higher deductibles and copayments as a result of the new law. So much for Obama’s repeated promises that no one would lose their coverage and that health care costs would go down, right?
Yet despite these failures, taxpayers are still subsidizing a pre-Obamacare bailout — providing grants to artificially prop up coverage that will eventually be covered by new entitlement spending (assuming the law isn’t struck down or repealed first).
Not surprisingly, the mainstream media has written very little about ERRP. In fact, a follow-up report on the blog Hot Air revealed that both The Washington Post and CBS have completely ignored problems with the slush fund secretly bankrolling health care for its early retirees.

According to Hot Air, a search for ERRP on The Post website last week revealed nothing. A search for the full name of the slush fund revealed only one article (a column that referenced a new media report, ironically). Meanwhile on the CBS website, a search for ERRP also produced no entries — while a search for the full name of the slush fund returned only one entry, a link to the Obama administration’s health care reform website.
“It looks like the Post and CBS aren’t interested in covering the fact that ERRP was grossly underfunded and wound up failing to protect existing coverage,” Hot Air noted.
American poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox once wrote that “to sin by silence when we should protest makes cowards of men.”

It apparently makes cowards of the media, too — although a compelling case could be made that these mainstream outlets were paid for their silence. Fortunately for taxpayers, the new media was there to uncover and expose the truth regarding this corruption.

It’s Hard To Trump the Truth! Up to now, the media has had a field day dismissing, denigrating and doing their best to destroy, anyone asking any questions regarding the Stranger-in-Chief, disparaging them as “birthers.”
If someone mentions the Constitutional mandate to ensure only, “a natural born citizen”, runs for the White House, they are slandered as “racists”, because this recent electee happens to be a man of, or at least 1/2 a man of, color.
A few known facts
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi signed different documents concerning the eligibility of John McCain, (his says he has been found to be Constitutionally qualified), and the Stranger-in-Chief, (that paragraph concerning qualifying eligibility is not found on his document);

His grandmother insisted until her death that she had been at his birth in Kenya;
There is no evidence of his parents living together in Hawaii at the address on the newspaper birth announcements;
There is evidence that he was educated as a Muslim in Indonesia, and listed his religion as “Islam” even when registered in Catholic school from first to third grade;
His Indonesian school records identify him as Barry Soreto, Indonesian citizen, Muslim.
(This is also possibly why he lost his law license, as he lied on his state filings, saying he had never gone by other names);
The Stranger-in-Chief has a Social Security number from Connecticut, a state with which he has …………to a dead person.
There is more obfuscation in our presidential “invisible man”, but you get the gist. Any reasonable person seeing all this, and knowing the Stranger-in-Chief has three law firms he has paid upwards of $2,000,000 dollars to date to keep hidden every record from every aspect of his past, might have a question or two……

Florida Law Enforcement Officers Mislead & Push the Limit of the Law to Stop Open Carry Rights Bill

Florida Law Enforcement Officers Mislead & Push the Limit of the Law to Stop Open Carry Rights Bill

ammoland.com ^ | 13 April, 2011 | Florida Open Carry

Posted on Thursday, April 14, 2011 9:23:49 AM by marktwain

Florida --(Ammoland.com)- The main provision of Florida Senate Bill 234 would, for the first time since 1987, permit concealed weapon or firearm license holders to carry handguns openly.
On Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimony regarding the bill.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office Major Ken Davis told of a recent traffic stop of six Tampa Bay Outlaw motorcycle gang members. “Although the six Outlaws were certified gang members, and had histories of criminal arrests, most were also concealed carry permit [sic] holders”, he related.

According to Florida Statute, the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services must suspend the licenses of those persons arrested or formally charged with a crime that would disqualify an individual for a license until final disposition of the case, and a licensee who is under an injunction that restrains them from committing acts of domestic violence or acts of repeat violence. Finally, the agency must revoke the license of a licensee who have been found guilty of, had adjudication of guilt withheld for, or had imposition of sentence suspended for one or more crimes of violence within the preceding three years.
One must conclude that Major Davis was either embellishing the facts surrounding the criminal arrests of the certified gang members in order to sway the committee, or his department was derelict in not reporting the disqualifying arrests to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for suspension of the licenses of those involved.
In fact, it appears that members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office may have violated the law in order to influence the committee members.

During his testimony, Captain Mike Fewless stated, “I actually stopped by every one of you guys’s [sic] office this morning (and) dropped off seven photographs of some biker outlaw gang guys that have carrying concealed firearm permits [sic]. Those are the ones we’re worried about carrying.”
Florida Statute 790.0601 expressly forbids the release of personally identifying information of a person who has applied for or who has received a license to carry a concealed weapon or firearm. The specific circumstances in which that information may be released are with the express written consent of the licensee, by a court order upon showing a good cause, or upon request of a law enforcement agency in connection with performance of lawful duties.
There is no exemption for release of identifying information by anyone for the purposes of furthering a political agenda.

Outright misrepresentation of fact appears to be a tactic our sheriffs are willing to utilize to defeat SB 234. Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson testified that open carry would be evident in the stands at next year’s Daytona 500 auto race. Conveniently, Sheriff Johnson omitted the fact that carry at a professional athletic event is a violation of existing statute, and Daytona International Speedway is a privately owned facility and has the statutory right to have anyone trespassed from the property for any reason, including carry of open or concealed firearms.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly in these times of fiscal austerity, were any public funds utilized to oppose the expansion of Second Amendment rights on behalf of the Florida Sheriffs Association?
Although elected officials, like the sheriffs are exempt, statute forbids anyone else to be compensated for lobbying without being registered as a legislative branch lobbyist. This means that if any non-elected law enforcement officers were compensated for in any way, by any public or private entity, they very well may have been in violation of law. Were any publically owned vehicles used for travel? Did any of the officers use per diem allowance or stay overnight on the taxpayer dime? And how many were on the clock? But even if on their own dime, was it ethical to then wear their uniforms and, ironically, their firearms to the committee meeting?

It is apparent that member agencies of the Florida Sheriffs Association may be willing to embellish circumstances, bend the law, and intentionally misrepresent facts in order to influence the committee and the legislature at large in order to maintain their virtual monopoly on open carry. Ironic since in 1987, when shall-issue concealed carry was being debated, the same association stated they preferred open carry over concealed carry so their deputies would not have to guess at who was armed.
