The Jehovah's Witnesses in Crisis: Anxiety and disillusionment sets in as 2014 approaches

The Jehovah's Witnesses in Crisis: Anxiety and disillusionment sets in as 2014 approaches: "The teaching of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society that Armageddon will come before the 'generation of 1914' passes away is causing increased anxiety among Jehovah's Witnesses as 2014 approaches and there are still no clear signs of how and when Jehovah will bring an end to this evil 'system of things.'

According to the teaching that the Jehovah's Witnesses have held for decades, people who were alive in 1914, when Jesus began 'invisible rule' in heaven (an event marked by the outbreak of the first world war), will not die off completely before Jesus 'turns kingdom attention to the earth' and executes judgment on 'enemies of God,' a phrase which, in Jehovah's Witnesses lingo, means essentially everyone of us who have not seen the light and joined the 'Jehovah's only visible organization on earth,' that is, The Jehovah's Witnesses."

Canada Post strike: Residents ask if they really need a postman

Canada Post strike: Residents ask if they really need a postman: "When Canadian letter carriers went on strike three weeks ago they hoped to force the national postal service, Canada Post, to back down from a cost-cutting proposal to dramatically reduce wages.

Three weeks later, lawmakers are preparing to legislate them back to work, but Canadians are asking just how much a modern cyber-connected society needs the post office anyway.

“If I get my mail, I get my mail, but if I really have to do something I go on the Internet,” says Janina, a bank teller.

True, some businesses say they have had to scramble to try to fill orders and receive payments that would usually be sent by mail, and charities some say they are missing out on donations. But observers say that by going on strike, postal workers have likely sealed their own fate by proving it's possible to function without daily mail delivery.

Police ticket cars, citizens claim harassment

Police ticket cars, citizens claim harassment: "A group of Rochester citizens meeting to show support for a woman arrested while video taping a police traffic stop claim police harassment.

Members of the group IndyMedia say several police officers converged on Clarissa Street late Thursday afternoon and began ticketing their parked cars for being more than 12 inches from the curb. A member of the group video taped the incident and posted the video on line. The pictures show police using a pink ruler to measure the distance from the curb to the wheels, and then issuing parking tickets.

Spokeswoman Dawn Zuppelli says this was obvious retaliation. 'This was a clear intimidation tactic. And I'm outraged about it. It was an appalling use of city (police) resources. They told us it was citizen complaints about how the cars were parked, and I don't believe it for a second. I absolutely think we're being targeted. They're leaving us a message that they are angry about this. It's gotten international coverage at this point, the misconduct of the RPD and they want to let us know that they're not happy about it,' Zuppelli said."

More Ground-Breaking Constitutional Theories

More Ground-Breaking Constitutional Theories:

"Last year I blogged about a fascinating new approach to constitutional interpretation that Georgetown law professor Nicholas Quinn Rosenkranz was developing, in a Stanford Law Review article called “The Subjects of the Constitution.” Now Nick has a sequel, titled, naturally, “The Objects of the Constitution.” Here’s an excerpt from the abstract:

In short, this Article and its predecessor, The Subjects of the Constitution, amount to a new model of constitutional review, a new lens through which to read the Constitution. This approach begins with a grammatical exercise: identifying the subjects and objects of the Constitution. But this is hardly linguistic casuistry or grammatical fetishism. The subjects and objects of the Constitution are not merely features of constitutional text; they are the pillars of constitutional structure. The very words “federalism” and “separation of powers” are simply shorthand for the deep truth that the Constitution empowers and restricts different governmental actors in different ways.

To elide the who question is to overlook the central feature of our constitutional structure. And it is this structure, above all, that is the object of the Constitution."

Ron Paul's Statement on HR2278

Ron Paul's Statement on HR2278:

"Mr. Speaker I rise to oppose this legislation, which masquerades as a limitation of funds for the president's war on Libya but is in fact an authorization for that very war. According to HR 2278, the US military cannot be involved in NATO's actions in Libya, with four important exceptions.

If this passes, for the first time the president would be authorized to use US Armed Forces to engage in search and rescue; intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; aerial refueling; and operational planning against Libya. Currently, absent an authorization or declaration of war, these activities are illegal. So instead of ending the war against Libya, this bill would legalize nearly everything the president is currently doing there.

That the war in Libya can be ended by expanding it and providing the president a legal excuse to continue makes no sense. If this bill fails, the entirety of what the president is doing in Libya would remain illegal.

Additionally, it should not really be necessary".....................

In Defense of Sedition by Thomas DiLorenzo

In Defense of Sedition by Thomas DiLorenzo:

"After 1865, the federal government became the sole decision maker with regard to the limits of its own powers. It exercised this decision-making power through the federal judiciary and, as the Jeffersonians had always warned, it eventually declared that there were, in fact, no limits to its powers.

It didn't take long for the federal government to declare the idea of natural rights, the bedrock of the Jeffersonian philosophy of government, to be null and void.

It did this by adopting the income tax in 1913, along with the creation of the vast legalized counterfeiting scheme known as the Federal Reserve. The income tax effectively declares that all earned income is the property of the state, and that the state will inform us from time to time how much of our own income we may keep to live on by setting the income tax rates.

The Fed and the income tax made it possible for the government to finance a limitless explosion of statism just four years later with American entry into the wordwide disaster of World War I, which led to the most destructively bloody century in all of human history."

Confronting the Lincoln Cult - Thomas J. DiLorenzo - Mises Daily

Confronting the Lincoln Cult - Thomas J. DiLorenzo - Mises Daily:

" And yet, as you say, none of this touches on your central thesis.

DiLorenzo: Right, and my thesis is that Lincoln devoted twenty-eight years of his life to an economic agenda of mercantilist high tariffs, pork in the form of internal improvements, and the promotion of a central bank. The basic strategy of this economic agenda was to allow the Republican Party to buy votes from protectionist manufacturers, mining and timber companies that wanted cheap federal land, subsidy-seeking railroad companies, and white laborers who did not want competition from freed blacks or slaves. You have written that Lincoln was the political son of Alexander Hamilton.

DiLorenzo: Yes, the founding father who represented the mercantilist, big-government brand of Americanism in contrast to the Jeffersonian spirit of freedom. The long-time debate between Jefferson and Hamilton was settled at gunpoint. That’s what the War for Southern Independence was all about.

After the election and just before Lincoln’s inauguration, the House passed the Morrill tariff which elevated the rate to 47.06 percent--an extortionist rate. Remember that the tariff was the primary source of federal revenue in those days and the South, which wanted free trade with the world, was paying 80 percent of the total federal revenue, according to Frank Taussig’s authoritative history."

National Press Photographers Association Slams Cops’ Camera Crackdown

National Press Photographers Association Slams Cops’ Camera Crackdown: "Cops in Rochester, New York, arrested a woman who was merely standing in her own front yard filming them conducting a traffic stop in front of her house, once again raising concerns over the continuing unconstitutional crackdown on filming police officers.

28-year-old Emily Good has been charged with obstructing governmental administration after she politely refused a police officer’s order to stop filming, leave her front yard and go back into her house.

The resulting video, capturing the entire incident, has gone viral online.

As WHEC-TV reports, Ms Good’s tape shows one of the officers telling her that he feels “threatened” by her standing “behind” him because she appeared to be “very anti-police.”"

America’s Life-Threatening Disease – Liberalpox!| The Post & Email

America’s Life-Threatening Disease – Liberalpox!| The Post & Email:

"Liberalpox is not a disease of the flesh, it is a disease of the mind. It affects the centers of the brain that control common sense, logic and objectivity and it distorts the inputs from the five senses. It forces the infected person to refute the laws of physics, chemistry and economics. To the diseased person, up is down, right is left, night is day and hot is cold. The disease of Liberalpox interrupts the normal electro-chemical functions of the brain such that synapses between neurons fire in the wrong direction, or not at all. It forces the brain to rationalize theft by taxes to satisfy the person’s irrational desire to be compassionate, no matter what the cost. There seems to be a direct correlation between Liberalpox and irrational compassion.

When the person infected with Liberalpox induces the government to take taxes from the rich and upper middle class and redistributes those taxes to the poor, the brain of the infected individual is suddenly flooded with dopamine. Thus, the disease is re-enforced and grows more rapidly under the influence of dopamine, in a total misapplication of this worthwhile brain chemical."

We Have A Total Dumb### For A President:

"What are you watching here? This is Obama, speaking at Fort Drum and justifying his willy-nilly pullout of Afghanistan in front of the 10th Mountain Division. And he references SFC Jared Monti of the 10th Mountain as being the first Medal of Honor recipient not to get the award posthumously.

Except Jared Monti was dead when he got the award. He was killed in action in 2006. Those are his parents in the picture as Obama presented them with Monti’s MOH.

The soldier Obama must have been thinking about is SSG Sal Giunta, of the 173rd Airborne. Giunta was the first living MOH recipient from Iraq and Afghanistan. It was a really big deal when Obama gave him the award; even non-political people knew about it.

It’s not the kind of thing a president who goes on and on about what an honor it is to recognize the troops would forget. And yet he just resurrected a Medal of Honor recipient.

Unless Jared Monti is Lazarus, this is a gaffe of mind-boggling proportions. This is worse than anything the Left can point to Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann or Dan Quayle or W for.

And this was off-the-cuff. This wasn’t some dumb staffer loading factual mistakes into the teleprompter. This was Obama’s brain.

Retreat By Any Other Name

Retreat By Any Other Name:

"Since the beginning of his swift political rise, Barack Obama has fashioned himself a unique historical figure. With his latest speech on Afghanistan, he has finally become one.

What other American president has employed a public argument so transparently political -- the need to 'rebuild our infrastructure' and 'find new and clean sources of energy'-- to explain his choices as commander in chief? What other president has deployed the words 'fidelity' and 'unwavering belief' -- citing examples of military tenacity and courage -- to announce a policy of premature retreat? What other president has more dramatically claimed 'a position of strength' while more effectively conveying an impression of weakness?

There is a boldness to this rhetorical approach, which might better be called shamelessness"..........................

Obama’s ineligibility: Our Lexington and Concord moment is coming:

The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations…This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution.“

The first “shots” of the Second American Revolution have not been fired, but the battle lines have been drawn.

There is now a radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the American people.

Petitioning the current Congress for the redress of grievances is futile. Members of Congress have turned a deaf ear to the voices of their constituents.

'Rathergate' expert on birth certificate': 'Highly suspicious': "The typography expert who played a key role in ending the career of CBS News anchor Dan Rather has told WND he has strong suspicions the Obama birth certificate released by the White House is fraudulent.

Joseph M. Newcomer, who exposed the 'Killian documents' as fraudulent in 2004, has told WND the Obama birth certificate released by the White House April 27 is a 'highly suspicious' document that deserves professional forensic examination.

'There is something deeply wrong here,' Newcomer told WND. 'There are artifacts in the birth certificate document that are strongly suggestive of a forgery. The document screams out that something is wrong.'

Get the New York Times best-seller 'Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama Is Not Eligible to be President,' autographed by Jerome Corsi, Ph.D.

Newcomer's 7,000-word analysis of the Killian documents in the Rather case demonstrated that the purported memos regarding George W. Bush's experience in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War were produced on a modern computer word processor, not a 1970s-era manual typewriter.

Newcomer stressed that he was relying on published charges that the Obama birth certificate was fraudulent, including the analysis by scanner expert Doug Vogt and by typography expert Paul Irey.

Obama’s Drawdown Speech: More Orwellian Lies

Obama’s Drawdown Speech: More Orwellian Lies:

"Obama begins his speech by claiming Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda attacked the United States on September 11, 2001. Like his predecessor, the government, and the corporate media, he does not offer any evidence but simply states it as fact.

The events of September 11, 2011, were not included on Osama’s FBI poster. According to the FBI, Osama was wanted in connection with the August 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, not the attacks of September 11.

Rex Tomb, Chief of Investigative Publicity for the FBI, admitted years ago that there is no evidence connecting the Saudi to September 11. “The reason why 9/11 is not mentioned on Osama bin Laden’s Most Wanted page is because the FBI has no hard evidence connecting bin Laden to 9/11.” Tomb said in 2006. “Bin Laden has not been formally charged in connection to 9/11.”

Obama states the nation was unified when it invaded Afghanistan in October of 2001. Polls revealed at the time that more than 90 percent of Americans supported the invasion.

National polls, however, do not reveal that Americans were bamboozled through relentless propaganda by the government and the real reason for going into Afghanistan was kept secret. Americans were not told that the government had planned to invade the country prior to September 11, 2001."

The U.S. Monetary System and Descent into Fascism an Interview With Dr. Edwin Vieira by David Galland

The U.S. Monetary System and Descent into Fascism an Interview With Dr. Edwin Vieira by David Galland:

"On the other side, we see this police state developing, with a centralized Department of Homeland Security in Washington that has tentacles reaching down into every local and state police force. This is completely contrary to the Constitution because the Constitution tells us that the thing that's necessary for the security of a free state is what? A well-regulated militia. And what is a well-regulated militia? It's composed, as the Virginia Declaration of Rights in 1776 said even before the U.S. Constitution, of the body of the people – the people organized in a certain way. Think of Switzerland.

Well, we've lost control over those two key elements, and until we get them back, we can only continue down this road to the full-blown police state. So in sizing up any politician, I'd start by asking them these two things: “What are you going to do in the state to return us to a system of constitutional currency with an alternative system in this state because we can't do it in Congress?”

And, number two, “What are you going to do to revitalize some kind of state militia structure, perhaps using Switzerland as the model because they’ve been very successful over the years, so that we are no longer under the control or answerable to Janet Napolitano?”"

“Others include patriot leader and former Constitution Party vice presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, who believes the U.S. is headed for a fight between big-government globalists and independent patriots; Stewart Rhodes, founder of Oath Keepers, which wants law enforcement officers and military personnel to sign an oath against a one-world government conspiracy” (interestingly, the AP report fails to acknowledge Chuck Baldwin was also the presidential candidate in 2008 and only mentions his V.P. candidacy in 2004).

So, what conclusion of connections does this article attempt to make (which felt was homepage, nationwide newsworthy)? Answer: any person who undermines, fundamentally questions or denounces the authority and power of the federal government and its thousands of bureaucracies over the reserved authority and rights of the individuals and States is an extremist, antigovernment, full of hate and a potential terrorist.

"In a front page story about a major FBI terrorism investigation, The Washington Post has reported that the targets include “Chicagoans who crossed paths with Obama when he was a young state senator and some who have been active in labor unions that supported his political rise.” The implication is that the trail could lead to the White House.

This is an unusual investigation that does not primarily involve Islamists. Instead, it is focused on elements of the old international communist networks that many people mistakenly thought had faded away with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Those under investigation are suspected of providing support to foreign terrorist organizations such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the Middle East, a Marxist group. It's not just wrong, but dangerous, according to Christian trends analysts.

The aim of the program, which is promoted by social activists behind the Faith Shared website, is to counter the message from Islamic activists who say opposition to their religion is the product of what they call a cottage industry of hate.
