Rod Blagojevich asked Monday for notes from the FBI's interviews with President Barack Obama conducted during the agency's investigation of the former Illinois governor.
The ousted Democrat filed a motion in U.S. District Court on Monday morning, The Associated Press reported. Blagojevich made a similar request – which was rejected – ahead of his first trial last year.

The FBI notes, Blagojevich's attorneys say in the filing, could "go directly to the heart of testimony of several government witnesses." One of those witnesses is Tom Balanoff, an Obama ally and the president of the Service Employees International Union Illinois Council, who said in testimony during the first trial that he spoke with Obama about the Senate seat in the days leading up to the 2008 election, the AP said.
The defense says the notes "would almost certainly have been disclosed if the interviewee was anyone other than the president."
