INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA---A Capitol police officer said Tuesday he resigned after his complaints to supervisors about inappropriate behavior by another officer at the Indiana governor's residence went unheeded.

Bradley Craig, 32, said the other officer frequently slept on the job and rummaged through Gov. Mitch Daniels' personal belongings.
"It was a total lack of supervision," Craig said.

A State Police spokesman confirmed Tuesday that two Capitol police officers assigned to protect the governor's residence have resigned amid the allegations.

1st Sgt. David Bursten said the officers became the subjects of a preliminary investigation Thursday. They resigned in the course of that investigation, Bursten said.
"This investigation alleges one or both former officers may have intruded upon personal property located in the official state residence for the governor of Indiana, located at 46th and Meridian," he said.

Bursten declined to elaborate on the allegations and declined to identify the officers, whom he described as suspects in a criminal investigation.

Once the investigation is complete, Bursten said, evidence will be presented to the Marion County prosecutor.
