GUNNY G: WELL, LOOK AT IT THIS WAY: DOES ANYONE THINK TRUMAN WAS AFRAID OF MACARTHUR?

GUNNY G: WELL, LOOK AT IT THIS WAY: DOES ANYONE THINK TRUMAN WAS AFRAID OF MACARTHUR?

JFK encouraged and assisted Hollywood in the making of "Seven Days in May," a fictional account of a military coup in the US.  Kennedy wanted this story to be told. He thought the American people needed to be alerted to the threat to democracy posed by the military.

No one knows what went on in his head, but it is reasonable to conclude that  he felt this was a real and important threat.

Robert Parry has written that Obama had a "Seven Days In May moment", meaning that he felt the threat of a military coup, when he began trying to withdraw troops from Iraq.
