In the midst of a drunken debauchery King Belshazzar, successor to King Nebuchadnezzar, of Babylon flaunted his arrogance in the face of almighty God by using the sacred silver and golden vessels taken from Solomon’s Temple to praise 'the gods of gold and silver, brass, iron, wood, and stone'.
Immediately upon the sacrilege a disembodied hand appeared, to the astonishment of the drunken revelers, and inscribed upon the wall the words: mina, mina, shekel, half-mina. None in the Kingdom could decipher those words, but Daniel the exiled Jew previously taken from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar could and did...........................
