In accordance with the law, the Executive Branch must document annually the number of new regulatory actions it plans for the coming year. The Administration’s current regulatory agenda has 4,257 new regulatory actions. At least 219 will have an economic impact of $100 million or more. That is an increase of nearly 15 percent over last year when it had 191. Americans have heard the Administration stating that some of these new economically significant regulations will have an economic impact of tens of billions of dollars.
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) sent a letter today, August 26, 2011, to President Obama, asking the White House to provide Congress before it returns this fall, with a list of all regulatory actions that would have an economic impact of $1 billion or more.
Boehner sent a similar request for information last August 16, 2010 when he was the House Republican leader. The requested data was never provided........................

Republican Party Dream Candidate by Jim Cox and James W. Harris
The Republican Party is desperately seeking a candidate who can unseat Barack Obama.
What qualifications would the ideal candidate have? How about these?
1. He should bring to mind popular past Republican presidents and leaders, to prove his authenticity and excite the Republican base.
2. At the same time, he should be able to win the support of a large number of Independents and disaffected Democrats.
3. He must provide a sharp and positive contrast to Obama. The country is souring on Obama – polls show him at all-time lows. Obama’s youth, once appealing to voters as freshness, is now looking more and more like inexperience and uncertainty. A mature GOP candidate, with successful experience inside and outside of politics, would provide a sharp and appealing contrast.
4. He must have a solid record of foresight on the economy. As in past elections, the phrase "It's the economy, stupid" may decide the election.
5. His message should excite and motivate the increasing number of voters looking for a limited government, pro-Constitution candidate.
6. Above all, of course, the candidate must have a genuine shot at beating Barack Obama.
We have such a candidate before us – Ron Paul. Consider:

Recent advancements in missile technology by untrustworthy regimes like Iran and North Korea should prompt retooling of a key Cold War-era treaty, two leading arms control experts have argued.
The Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty signed by the U.S. and USSR in 1988 "has far outlived its usefulness in its current form — so it should either be changed or thrown out," write former Undersecretary of State John Bolton and Assistant Secretary of State Paula DeSutter in an op-ed in the August 15th Wall Street Journal. The agreement successfully drew down Soviet and U.S. nuclear arsenals by outlawing ground-launched ballistic missiles between 500 and 5,500 kilometers in range.
But, Bolton and DeSutter point out, since the end of the Cold War "nations not covered by the treaty have been steadily increasing their missile capabilities, especially in the intermediate ranges." The result is a growing list of nations that threaten U.S. interests, allies and deployed forces.
So what can be done? "To reduce the threat from INF-range missiles," the authors say, "we must either expand the INF Treaty's membership or abrogate it entirely so that we can rebuild our own deterrent capabilities."..............

The demise of Irene has already begun. There is no visible eye. The storm intensity is down to 99 mph. This would be a low-end category 2 or a strong category 1 storm, while 36 hours ago some predicted a catastrophic category 4 storm. Air Force Reserve aircraft have found that Irene’s eyewall has collapsed, and the central pressure has risen — rising pressure means a weakening storm.
The reduction in storm intensity likely confirms that this storm is not going to be as monstrous as it has been publicly forecast to be.
Yes, it will be windy. However, north of Delaware most hurricane force winds will very likely be gusts, not sustained winds.

Ron Paul supporter and anti-drug war activist Ronnie Reeferseed was hauled away from an Austin City Council meeting and banned for a year for stating his name in a mildly satirical manner, in yet another example of how local officials are increasingly engaging in petty power trips to oppress the free speech rights of American citizens.
The video shows Ronnie introducing himself before Mayor Lee Leffingwell snarls, “you will stop there, step back, your time is up,” and gestures for police officers to come and remove him from the podium.
Ronnie stated his satirical pseudonym in a, God forbid, mildly satirical manner, but the reaction of Leffingwell and the goons who removed him from the podium was a despicable and thuggish overreaction.
When other citizens present at the council meeting start to vocally complain about Ronnie’s treatment, Mayor Leffingwell calls for order and then threatens them, “sit down, be quiet, or you’ll be next.”................

These words have no basis in fact. Islam is not part of our civilization because its foundational principles are opposite to ours. Our civilization is built on the foundation of critical thought (how we think) and the Golden Rule (ethics). Islam is built on submission (authoritative thought) and ethical dualism.

I’m sure they left this guy’s part out of the movie version, or I’d remember it.
In the latter chapters of the book, Battle Cry, by Leon Uris, the Bn Co, LtCol Huxley (Highpockets), is in his office with his XO, Major Wellman. They are dicussing a new officer due to report aboard. The officer is Max Shapiro; a Marine legend and known as “Two Gun Shapiro.”
His record told a story of transfers, demotion, courts-martial, citations for valor, and promotions. It was a book of contradictions.

Take, for instance, Scarface, the 1983 gangster picture directed by Brian De Palma, written by Oliver Stone, and starring Al Pacino who gives a performance the size of a Caribbean cruise ship.
When it first came out, I panned it for taking Howard Hawks's great 1932 movie and remaking it as something trashy, shallow, and excessive to the point of Camp. I wasn't alone. The movie received lots of bad reviews, and even the public wasn't wild about it. It was only the sixteenth biggest box-office draw of 1983, behind such cinematic triumphs as Mr. Mom and Jaws 3-D.
But Scarface didn't vanish like they did. Instead, over the next quarter century, it became a phenomenon. The movie's now so iconic that it doesn't even seem silly that Universal should bring out a fancy, metal-encased Blu-ray version, the Scarface Limited Edition Steelbook, which captures the story in all its lurid glory.

Tiny Goshen College in Indiana has banned the "The Star Spangled Banner: at all sporting events because the Mennonite school's president considers the National Anthem's words to be too violent.
The 1,000-student school had already banned the words last year, but the band could still play the music for patriots in attendance. Now, the school has banned the song entirely, according to NBC Sports.

In a letter sent to Obama on Friday, Boehner reiterated a request he made this time last year for the administration to provide details on regulations with a projected cost of more than $1 billion, arguing that new projections by the White House point to 219 new planned regulations at a nearly 15 percent increase in cost over last year.
“I am again asking that your Administration provide a list of all pending and planned rulemakings with a projected impact on our economy in excess of $1 billion,” Boehner wrote in his letter Friday.

In whichever category, Hurricane Irene will blow the Obamas back to Washington on Saturday.
We the People never got to know why there were no plans for the Obamas to leave Martha Vineyard early. All that is known is that everything Barack and Michelle do is for show.
That’s because for almost three long years now, this destructive duo has tormented and provoked average people, all the while displaying zero discernible human emotion for anything American.
