Government Subsidized InfoSec Degrees:

1. The IT Peace Corps

The rundown on getting a government paid InfoSec and information assurance IT education.

If someone told you the Federal government would provide a full ride for your Master’s degree in Information Security and pay you a stipend of 15K/year (recently raised for 2011), your initial reaction would likely be denial and, then, curiosity. The formal name of the program is Scholarship for Service (SFS), and the graduates are often referred to as the Cyber Corps (think Peace Corps but for protection of U.S. systems and data as the mission).

It’s a real program that started roughly in 2001 and is still going strong a decade later. All the FAQ material is available here. In order to receive the Master’s degree:
