Mr. Obama told Pelley “this is not just a matter of Social Security checks. These are veterans checks, these are folks on disability and their checks. There are about 70 million checks that go out.”

The interview will air Tuesday evening on the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley.

Mr. Obama’s comments followed remarks from the Senate’s top Republican, who said Tuesday that he did not see a way for Republicans and Democrats to come to agreement on meaningful deficit reduction as long as Mr. Obama remains in office.

“After years of discussions and months of negotiations, I have little question that as long as this president is in the Oval Office, a real solution is probably unattainable,” Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said in remarks on the Senate floor.

Still, McConnell said Republicans would “do the responsible thing” to avoid default, suggesting that a deal on the debt ceiling could be reached without a “real” deficit reduction package.

Back in 1776, a group of regional politicians launched an illegal revolt in North America to create a far more lucrative tax jurisdiction, which was then sold to the voters by the marketing slogan of “liberty.”
It was officially dedicated to the proposition that all males are created equal, other than kidnapped Africans and their descendants.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether this tax jurisdiction, or any tax jurisdiction so justified and so marketed, can long endure, especially in the face of another group of regional politicians who are trying to pull off a similar stunt in the name of the same slogan.
We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for members of the Union Army who here gave their lives, that this tax jurisdiction might expand.
It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate – we can not consecrate – we can not sanctify this ground.

Ron Paul, the amazing and principled politician, is not running for Congress again. It's the end of an era, but the beginning of a new one. But why is Ron not running, after finally getting a little of what he is due with his monetary committee? He has been thinking about this for some time, and wants to concentrate on the presidential campaign and future and enhanced educational efforts that will blow your socks off. Also, he has had it – to name just a few items – with: twice weekly groping by the TSA (since he has metal knees and is selected for the full feel-up every time); dealing with the crooks and creeps in Congress, especially in the rotten Texas delegation; and the deadly new district the Republicans have placed him in. There are sad aspects to this, of course. He has been the greatest congressman in American history, by many leagues. But I predict that he will have even more and even more lasting influence as he uses his moral authority for teaching freedom, peace, and Austrian economics outside of politics. More later.

The sole branch of this government that is responsible for creating legislation is the legislative branch the Congress of the United States. However – the US Department of Homeland Security was created directly by Presidential Executive Order No 13228, below.
“By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows:”
George W. Bush is claiming a “right under the Constitution” that does NOT exist!
Article One, Section 1. of the United States Constitution says: ” All legislative powers herein shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives.” There is no mention anywhere of the “right” of the Executive to create anything like the largest single agency this government has ever had – as this ‘department’ absorbed 22 separate existing agencies (that were created by congress) into one that answers only to the executive.
Therefore the ‘creation’ of Homeland Security – is in direct violation of Article One, Section 1, of the US Constitution, as the executive branch had no authority to create any legislation – much less whole departments of the government – only the congress can do this under the Constitution: Therefore – this Executive Order is itself unconstitutional on its face and must be rescinded! Sounds like a silly old analogy from days gone by, but it happens to remain true today. People who can’t pay taxes don’t pay taxes, and that’s why people, who can pay, will always pay for everyone. Fairness isn’t even part of the equation.

In his July 11 Part III of his Economic Vision statement, presidential candidate Herman Cain does his best to pitch the “Fair Tax” – a libertarian economic proposal that offers to replace the federal income tax with a national sales (consumption) tax.

The Fair Tax concept would replace a federal tax on gross income with a national sales tax on everything you purchase. The allure is the idea of no more withholdings from your paycheck and that idea is embraced by a lot of people who are sick and tired of working 1/3 of their job for the federal government and then watching the federal government waste their earnings and then some.

But the problems with a national sales tax are significant

• The tax rate would be at least 30% in order to deal with the insane level of federal spending
• A direct 30% tax on consumer activity will absolutely reduce consumer activity
• A consumer driven economy must have healthy consumer activity
• We would pay taxes"

Chupacabra Roaming In Lake Jackson?: "The chupacabra has been an intriguing urban legend for decades, but one man said he spotted something like it and got pictures of it.

Jack Crabtree said he and a friend spotted the strange looking creature outside his Lake Jackson home on July 4. 'He said, 'That's the strangest dog I've ever seen,'' Crabtree said. 'I immediately said, 'That's not a dog, it's a chupacabra.''

Crabtree said he's heard of the chupacabra as a mysterious creature with a scary look.

The word 'chupacabra' means 'goat blood sucker' in Spanish. It was given that name for its reported habit of attacking and sucking the blood of livestock, mainly goats.

Crabtree said what he saw was ugly, skinny and gray. 'Most prominent feature was his ears,' he said. 'I can see why people would conjure up myths and horror stories associated with something that has that appearance.' Crabtree said he and his wife think what he saw was probably just a sick animal.

'It was a coyote, a coyote that has mange,' Crabtree said. 'An extremely severe case and has lost all it's hair.'

Crabtree has set up a live trap to try to catch the animal and figure out exactly what it is."
