Libertarian Party's Ron Paul Sends "Dear Frank" Letter
from the Libertarian Party News, March/April 1987
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Following is the text of a letter sent to Frank Fahrenkopf, chairman of
the Republican National Committee, by Ron Paul, former member of Congress
from Texas and now a member of the Libertarian Party.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
As a lifelong Republican, it saddens me to have to write this letter.
My parents believed in the Republican Party and its free enterprise
philosophy, and that's the way I was brought up. At age 21, in 1956, I cast
my first vote for Ike and the entire Republican slate.

Everywhere you go people are talking about gas prices. One of the most common questions: WHY does the price of gasoline IMMEDIATELY skyrocket at the pump the very day that oil prices –rise- but barely move when oil prices plunge?
That’s a reasonable question to ask as we all know that the price they paid for that gas already under ground didn’t cost them the new, higher closing price of that day.
They justify this by attributing the new higher price to... (continued)

Former President Clinton: I'll be surprised if Obama isn't reelected By Daniel Strauss - 05/13/11 04:48 PM ET

Former President Clinton will be surprised if President Obama doesn't get reelected.
Asked in an interview with CNBC on Friday if he thought Obama would win a second term, Clinton said, “I do, yeah.”

"I'll be surprised if he doesn't win," he said.

Clinton's optimistic comment about Obama's presidential prospects contrast with ones he made during the early primary months of the last presidential election.

In 2008, when his wife, then-Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) was running against Obama, the former president was much less complimentary about Obama's candidacy. Bill Clinton once said that the main thrust of Obama's campaign consisted of his speaking skill and his opposition to the Iraq War.

"That is the central argument for his campaign," Clinton said in 2008. "It doesn’t matter that ‘I’ started running for president less than a year after ‘I’ got to the senate after the Illinois senate. ‘I’ am a great speaker and a charismatic figure and ‘I’ am the only one who had the judgment to oppose this war from the beginning — always always always."

Bill Clinton: Create Internet agency

Bill Clinton: Create Internet agency

Bill Clinton doesn’t like all the misinformation and rumors floating on the Internet. And he thinks the United Nations or the U.S. government should create an agency to do something about it.

“It would be a legitimate thing to do,” Clinton said in an interview airing Friday on CNBC.
The agency, Clinton said, would “have to be totally transparent about where the money came from” and would have to be “independent” because “if it’s a government agency in a traditional sense, it would have no credibility whatever, particularly with a lot of the people who are most active on the internet.”

“Let’s say the U.S. did it, it would have to be an independent federal agency that no president could countermand or anything else because people wouldn’t think you were just censoring the news and giving a different falsehood out,” Clinton said.

No Right to Assault Police Officer Entering Home Even if Entrance is Unlawful: Indiana Supreme Court

No Right to Assault Police Officer Entering Home Even if Entrance is Unlawful: Indiana Supreme Court

The decision is Barnes v. State, and the Indiana Supreme Court divided 3–2.
In this case, the officer had come to the home in response to a domestic violence call. He found the defendant, Barnes, outside.

The officer and the defendant exchanged heated words, and the defendant started yelling at the officer. The officer threatened to arrest the defendant if he didn’t calm down, and the defendant threatened to have the officer arrested if he arrested him. At this point the defendant’s wife came outside, threw a duffel bag in the defendant’s direction, and told him to take the rest of his stuff.

She then went back inside the home. The defendant then reentered the home following his wife, but once inside he blocked the officer (and another officer) from entering. The officers asked if they could enter the home, and the defendant’s wife pleaded with the defendant to let them enter.

The defendant refused. The police then entered anyway, and the defendant “shoved [an officer] against the wall.” The officers then tazed the defendant and arrested him.

Barack Obama regularly seeks advice from Fareed Zakaria, the CNN host and author of Post American World.
The Blaze reported:
How would you feel if you knew the president regularly sought the advice of a magazine editor/columnist ad TV host? It’s true. According to CNN, Obama has made a habit of seeking “wisdom and advice” from host Fareed Zakaria.
In an interview with fellow CNN host Elliot Spitzer, Zakaria admitted Obama and him talk regularly about the Middle East and international policy, a point that Spitzer said makes his heart “warm:”

Matthew Hay Brown of the The Baltimore Sun reports that Rep. Steny Hoyer, House Minority Whip, sent a letter to colleges in his congressional district encouraging them to teach their students about how beneficial the new health care reform law is.

Hoyer's letter indicates that Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius have also sent letters on this same subject.

The Sun report repeats the saw that the law will become more popular as time goes on and people learn more about it (Cue then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi's statement about passing the bill so we can find out what's in it.)
Hoyer's letter is below:

He Served the Empire Abroad; The Regime Killed Him in His Home

May 12, 2011 "
LR" --  Jose Guerena survived two combat tours of Iraq, only to become a casualty of the Regime’s longest war — the one waged against its domestic subjects in the name of drug prohibition. The former Marine was slaughtered by a SWAT team during a May 5 assault on his home in Arizona.
Guerena’s wife, Vanessa, heard a noise outside the couple’s home near Tucson at about 9 a.m. Jose, who had just gone to bed after pulling a 12-hour shift at the Asarco Mine, suspected — correctly, as it turned out — that his family was threatened by an armed criminal gang. Grabbing his AR-15, Guerena instructed his wife and four-year-old son to hide in the closet while he confronted the intruders.

Moscow zeroes in on another lonely voice of opposition.

The motto Vladimir Putin lives by is simple: If you can’t beat them, jail them. If you can’t jail them, kill them. And make no mistake: these days Putin is able to live by that motto in large part because of the craven cowardice of U.S. President Barack Obama.
The definitive case in point is that of attorney activist Alexei Navalny.

Just like businessman Mikhail Khodorkovsky before him, Navalny has boldly stepped forward to challenge financial corruption in Putin’s Russia.

The country ranks a genuinely shocking #154 out of 178 world nations when surveyed for corruption, meaning that Russia is the 24th most corrupt country on the planet. A new report by former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov documents that this corruption reaches to the highest levels of the Kremlin, including Putin himself.

By choosing Putin, the proud KGB spy, Russians were supposed to be gaining strict law and order in exchange for civil rights and liberties. What’s actually happened is that they’ve got the worst of all possible worlds.

In yet another one of Obama's highly touted campaign speeches (are there any other type?), the President once again chose to use derisive rhetoric to whip up the masses against those horrible Republicans.

Obama attempted to put the GOP on the defensive by suggesting that Republicans not only want the country surrounded by a moat to prevent evil immigrants from entering, but that in order to ensure success, they would fill the moat with alligators.

U.S. officials are analyzing one million pages of data from the trove found in Osama bin Laden's compound during the raid that killed him, and say they have learned more in the past ten days than in the past 10 years.

Among the things they've learned is that the al Qaeda leader wanted to find a way to kill President Obama.

Wherever possible President Barack Obama has sought to dilute or disguise the ideological war his administration has been waging against capitalism over the past twenty-seven months. As a result, his massive bureaucratic bailout became an “economic stimulus.” His takeover of the financial markets was labeled “Wall Street Reform.”

His socialized medicine plan became the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” act (which of course would magically shrink, not expand deficits). And his massive energy tax increase was cleverly billed as a “cap-and-trade” emissions marketplace.

Yet when Obama’s union goons on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) challenged aircraft manufacturer Boeing’s right to locate a new facility in the right-to-work state of South Carolina, all subtlety evaporated.

There, in a black-and-white complaint, is indisputable evidence that the Obama administration is waging war against the American free market on behalf of union thugs and entrenched government bureaucrats. It’s a costly war, too – one that’s being funded by trillions of tax dollars (and trillions more in deficit spending).
