California's – New Law.. Warrantless Searches: California – New Law.. Warrantless Searches

Starting next year police here in California will have power to search without a warrant. The circumstances are limited, but the principle isen’t. Thanks to a bill signed by Governor Brown, police can search for pirated copies of movies and compact discs. The idea is to cut down on stolen ‘intellectual property.’ The warrantless searches will be allowed at 'plants' that make ‘commercial copies’ of CD’s and DVDs.

Some wonder if that violates the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution dealing with Search and Seizure.

Others wonder if one day the law will expand.. beyond just 'plants.'

Quick simple inquiry ...

My wife spends a lot more time here on Freepers than I but we both love you all.

We have an impasse .... she says that if the right tea party candidate (not Romney, Christie, etc) is not the final candidate against Obama, then many people (assuming she is talking about people here on Freepers) will simply NOT vote, i.e. will stay home from voting ...

Is that true? I mean, for example, if we end up with two 'pro-choice' candidates to vote for (Obama and someone with an R next to their name) would I as a pro-life voter simply stay home? Heck no ... I would vote for the 'lessor of two evils', the one with the "R" (God forbid it's a RINO!)

Just curious as to what peoples sentiments are here ... also will help me understand what circles my wife's been talking! ;-)

Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) offered support for some of the Occupy Wall Street protests that have built up in lower Manhattan over the weekend in an interview Friday with Reason magazine, where he also denounced the “militarization of our police forces.”

“If they were demonstrating peacefully, and making a point, and arguing our case, and drawing attention to the Fed — I would say, good!” Paul said following a town-hall meeting in New Hampshire.

Paul has long been an outspoken critic of the Federal Reserve, which he says manipulates American currency and is excessively secretive.

Paul was asked by Reason about a report from last weekend in which an NYPD officer was caught on camera pepper-spraying protesters.

“I hadn’t heard that, since I have to admit I didn’t keep up on all the details of it,” Paul said. “I didn’t read the stories about it. But that means government doesn’t like to be receiving any criticism at all. And my argument is, government should be in the open — the people’s privacy ought to be protected. Today, CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson was on the Laura Ingraham show to discuss new documents that show Attorney General Eric Holder was briefed about Operation Fast and Furious as early as July 2010, which contradict Holder’s Congressional testimony on May 3 when he said, “I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks.”

Attkisson revealed that she had been yelled and screamed at by the Justice Department and White House spokesmen for asking about what Holder knew and when he knew it.

On and off folks have sent me copies of their books to review and when I get one that looks like a good read I try to take the time to do a reading and review that I can hopefully get published somewhere to help them out.

The book Donnie Kennedy and I have recently had published by Pelican Publishing Co., “Lincoln’s Marxists,” has gotten a couple good reviews on Amazon.com which I enjoyed reading. We recently had another review of our book that was somewhat less than everything you could hope for, but, given the nature of the subject, I guess that is to be expected. The review was published by an outfit called Book News Inc.

which is out of Portland, Oregon. The reviewer majors on the minor of the two different names Donnie and I give to the “late unpleasantness.” He says we “argue between themselves over whether the US Civil War should be called The War of Southern Independence or the War of Northern Aggression.”

Moran served for nine years in the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge in August 2011 following several years spent as a civilian, preceded by four years in the U.S. Marines.

Moran reported that another person from “up north” has joined him in Washington, DC in a motion of solidarity regarding concerns about the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate and other issues about which Obama might have lied.

He stated that he called the Secret Service after he was joined by the supporter in order to make public what he is doing, as “things have changed” since receiving the physical support of another person. “A couple people have indicated maybe sending support of a little bit of money; not anything significant, but it can help. I hope others will consider that if God leads them.”

Moran has also made contact with someone who calls himself “Captain America” with whom he will speak again on October 4.

Moran and his supporter do not know how long they will stay in Washington. However, he indicated that they will be meeting with a congressional staffer on Tuesday, October 4. He described a document which he had distributed to numerous parties which The Post & Email published here.....

The VP said "I really don't know about the Van Jones group, except what I read in the press." The group is currently protesting in New York City against the social and economic inequality, corporate greed and the influence of corporate money and lobbyists on government.

Later in his response in talking about the frustration seen in the Tea Party and the Occupy Wall Street Group, Biden said "you have on the one end Van Jones' guys, whoever he is, talking about Wall Street." How do I get a browser for internet TV?

How do I get a browser for internet TV?:

A friend of mine just got a Visio WiFi TV. He set it up according to instructions and it will stream from the WiFi but only what is listed on the "Widgets." He would like to be able to go to a regular website like HULU or GBTV and stream from there like he can do on his computer.

We looked around on what is available for download but couldn't find a browser anywhere. I can connect my laptop and use the TV like a monitor but that kind of defeats the purpose of having an internet TV.

The actual definition is a person who believes in racism, the doctrine that a certain human race is superior to any or all others. So, when Democrats throw around the word "racist" as much as they do, are they suggesting that Republicans and Tea Partiers think they are superior to other races?

President Barack Obama said Monday he does not regret a $528 million loan to a solar energy company that later collapsed, saying officials always knew a clean energy loan program would not back winners 100 percent of the time.

"There are going to be some failures, and Solyndra's an example," Obama said in a television interview, referring to a California solar panel maker that declared bankruptcy last month and laid off its 1,100 workers. The company's failure has become a rallying cry for critics of Obama's clean energy program who say the government should not try to predict winners and losers in the volatile renewable energy market.

Obama disputed that, saying China is pouring "hundreds of billions of dollars into this space." If the United States wants to compete with China, Germany and other countries that are heavily subsidizing clean energy, "we've got to make sure that our guys here in the United States of America at least have a shot," Obama said.

Obama, in an interview with ABC News, was asked whether his administration had ignored warnings about Solyndra, as some congressional Republicans assert.

"Well, hindsight is always 20-20," he said.

Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

The sitting President of the United States, whom many Americans conclude evidentially is illegal and ineligible and a usurper, has shown no interest in the fear of God or leading our nation righteously. The reproach felt is burdensome to those with a fear of God and a desire to be irreproachable before HIM.

In this light, I came to Washington DC saying I would personally arrest B. Obama for the crime of forgery of his birth certificate. The Secret Service says I cannot and will get nowhere near him...........

Giving one's self a haircut (vanity):

Hello FRiends. Lately I've noticed that whenever I have a question about something, my first impulse is to look it up on FR. Anyway, that explains this vanity.

Do any FReepers (guys) have experience giving themselves a haircut? My hair grows faster'n a weed and I don't care to waste time and money constantly running to the barber. Plus my hair is thick, coarse, and wavy, so once it gets even moderately long I end up looking either like the 'Hall' in Hall and Oates, or else a 1950's greaser. Not pretty.

I have an electric clipper with a few attachments. I'm not shooting for anything spectacular, just looking for tips on how to get the back, avoid gouging clumps out, etc.

Recently, Herman Cain made the comment that, “Many African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open-minded, not even considering a conservative point of view.” For this statement he was vilified, especially by the black liberal establishment. It may have been imprudent for him to say, especially if he wishes to garner a significant portion of the black vote, but it is the truth. Blacks have been brainwashed by the myth of the Southern Strategy.

There was a point in our history in which the black community voted overwhelmingly Republican. After all, the first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln, freed the slaves. During the reconstruction period, blacks elected to federal office were all Republicans. President Johnson had to appeal to Congressional Republicans for passage of civil rights legislation as the majority of Democrats opposed it.
