Declaration vs Constitution?:

The Declaration of Independence (1776) and the Constitution (ratified 1789) are the founding documents of the American Republic, regarded as secular “holy writ.”

Ironically, however, many Americans confuse the two. It may be too bad, but days are past when school children memorized much of the Declaration and at least the Preamble to the Constitution.

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration; whereas, the Constitution took months of work by an entire convention chaired by George Washington................
