I recall very well watching this on tv at home in California that night.
When Gerald Ford had won and was on stage he waved and called out to RR who was seated in the upper gallery, Ford wanted him on stage with him.
The audience, and God knows how many of us watching on tv, waited anxiously for him to arrive on stage.
He soon arrived and made that most memorable, for me, presentation as America cheered him!
We could surely use that man now.

There is no Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment simply tells us that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Unlike the First Amendment’s prohibition against Congress making laws abridging certain rights we hold dear, the Second Amendment is an outright prohibition on all branches of our federal government from infringing on our right to defend ourselves.
For a right to be infringed, it must already exist. The right to self-preservation is among the inalienable Jefferson spoke of in the Declaration of Independence. Without the right to defend life and liberty, those rights are devalued to academic dogma. The right to self-preservation, the right to defend life was not arbitrarily provided to us by fiat from a crown, a delegation of elected officials or a piece of parchment.
The right comes from God (or nature if you prefer). The mere fact that you breathe, the fact that you were given the gift of reason, providence dictates your right to flourish……

Gang members have been signing up with the United States Armed Forces, posing a “significant criminal threat” to law enforcement, according to a report by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
“Gang infiltration of the military continues to pose a significant criminal threat, as members of at least 53 gangs have been identified on both domestic and international military installations,” the report says, resulting in American gang graffiti in Iraq, among other things.
Every branch of the military contains some gang members, the FBI reported, but most gang members join the Army, the Army Reserves, and the U.S. National Guard. And gang member enlistment doesn’t require a sinister intention. “Many street gang members join the military to escape the gang lifestyle,” says the FBI, while others join at the behest of a court “as an alternative to incarceration.”

Republicans have also been intimidated by the threat of civil unrest instigated by the Obama campaign and executed by union thugs, left-wing radicals and Black Nationalist extremists.
In both cases, the Republicans have succumbed to political blackmail.
What goes unmentioned in the Republicans’ explanation is that, because of their complicity in the cover-up of Obama’s ineligibility and crimes, they are also vulnerable to political criticism and criminal prosecution.
The Republican strategy, therefore, is to challenge Obama on policy, educate the public and defeat him in the 2012 election.
Good luck with that approach, with the already anointed RINO candidate Mitt Romney and with a party platform of warmed-over platitudes and promises with post-election expiration dates.

We know of Obama’s involvement in this demonstration only because his supporters in 2008 felt it necessary to rebut charges that, contrary to his claims of inter-racial healing, he had organized exclusively with blacks. Only then did Obama’s former colleagues from UNO [United Neighborhood Organization, a largely Mexican group] of Chicago reveal that he had helped to plan and lead this multi-ethnic demonstration against landfill expansion on Chicago’s South Side.
…Shouting “No deals!” somewhere between eighty and a hundred UNO-DCP [Developing Communities Project, a black group organized by Obama] marched to a local bank. There they broke into a meeting being conducted by the bank president and local community leaders.
The group was exploring the possibility of a deal with Waste Management.
The protestors, presumably including Obama, surrounded the meeting table while [Mary-Ellen] Montes [of UNO] told the negotiators, “We will fight you every step of the way.”

In his 1850 Disquisition on Government, John C. Calhoun argued that a written constitution would never be sufficient to contain the plundering proclivities of a central government. Some mechanisms for assuring consensus among the citizens of the states regarding "federal" laws would be necessary. Consequently, Calhoun proposed giving citizens of the states veto power over federal laws that they believed were unconstitutional (the "concurrent majority"). He also championed the Jeffersonian idea of nullification. To Calhoun (and Jefferson), states' rights meant that the citizens of the states were sovereign over the central government that they created as their agent, and could only be so if such mechanisms — including the right of secession — existed.
Without these political mechanisms the forces of nationalism, mercantilism, and political plunder would relentlessly reshape the Constitution with their rhetoric, and their efforts would eventually overwhelm the strict constructionists. At that point the Constitution would become a dead letter.

“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”—Thomas Paine (1737-1809)
Although my byline is attached to this article, in all honesty I would have to give JB Williams the lion’s share of the credit for it—you might say that I’m simply echoing his sentiments. In any event, here are some further thoughts on the “Restore the Constitution” rally being held on 11/11/11 in Washington DC.
As conditions in America have worsened over the last few years, in particular since a man with no valid discernible past took up residence in our White House, I have heard the same question asked over and over again with increasing regularity, and dismay—“Where’s our military and law enforcement? Isn’t anyone who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, going to do something?”
Amid an endless stream of conspiracy theories, a real conspiracy was underway, and well-founded concerns for the state of our union led to other questions—“why are our soldiers allegedly fighting for freedom and liberty abroad while we are being stripped of our freedom and liberty at home? Why isn’t anyone doing anything to stop it?”

Upon being told of his murder, Clinton joked with news reporters between interviews, laughing as she said “we came, we saw, he died.” Regardless of Qaddafi’s status as a dictator, such demeanor of a U.S. Secretary of State should be alarming to everyone, but especially to those in the media.
In an earlier, seemingly simpler time in U.S. politics, for example during the pre-millennium election cycles, people might recall that the liberal left and their media co-conspirators embraced another Latin word: gravitas. Ironically used in context to describe the statesmanship conduct of Bill Clinton, the term means to act in a dignified, solemn and otherwise appropriate manner. Anyone watching the main stream media heard pundits and anchors waxing on the gravitas attribute of William Jefferson Clinton over all others. The term survived well into the Bush and post 9/11 years, where the media at times accused George W. Bush of not only lacking gravitas but in later years as metaphorically “spiking the football,” such as with his ill-advised but non-offensive “mission accomplished” speech aboard an aircraft carrier.

Upon being told of his murder, Clinton joked with news reporters between interviews, laughing as she said “we came, we saw, he died.” Regardless of Qaddafi’s status as a dictator, such demeanor of a U.S. Secretary of State should be alarming to everyone, but especially to those in the media.
In an earlier, seemingly simpler time in U.S. politics, for example during the pre-millennium election cycles, people might recall that the liberal left and their media co-conspirators embraced another Latin word: gravitas. Ironically used in context to describe the statesmanship conduct of Bill Clinton, the term means to act in a dignified, solemn and otherwise appropriate manner. Anyone watching the main stream media heard pundits and anchors waxing on the gravitas attribute of William Jefferson Clinton over all others. The term survived well into the Bush and post 9/11 years, where the media at times accused George W. Bush of not only lacking gravitas but in later years as metaphorically “spiking the football,” such as with his ill-advised but non-offensive “mission accomplished” speech aboard an aircraft carrier.

Thanks for the heads-up on the upcoming information blackout. Also on that day NASA has Asteroid 2005 YU55 coming closest to Earth, passing between Earth and the Moon (0.0023 AU).
The absence of information about what is occurring in our solar system is astounding. The almost daily enormous solar flares, increased earthquake and volcanic activity is going almost totally unreported.
And what’s with that huge building project on the WH grounds all about?

Not so because I’ve been told that there may be a veteran or two who, not only say they voted for Obama, but support him to this day, after three years of dismantling the country and trashing the Constitution.
Yes, I know, hard to believe that some people who, at one time, took an Oath to the Constitution have, for whatever excuse, allowed that Oath to expire. Such a disappointment is, quite obviously, not a Patriot. So what is a Patriot?
