Mitt Romney and Barack Obama never met to discuss the federal health care law, but Romney's advisers did. New records reviewed by NBC News's Michael Isikoff point out that "White House officials had a dozen meetings in 2009 with three health-care advisers and experts who helped shape the health care reform law signed by Romney in 2006." One meeting, NBC News reports, "was in the Oval Office and presided over by Barack Obama."
Jon Gruber, one of the advisers who attended the Obama meeting, said that the White House "really wanted to know how we can take that same approach we used in Massachusetts and turn that into a national model."
Especially in light of Perry's recent "Romney Remedy" ad, Romney is distancing himself from Gruber like an embarrassing ex, as aides have tried to suggest Gruber wasn't a really an adviser to Romney. The Constitution is not some aspirational statement of values, allowing exceptions when convenient, but rather, it is the law of the land. Last week’s assassination of two American citizens, Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan, is an outrage and a criminal act carried out by the President and his administration. If the law protecting us against government-sanctioned assassination can be voided when there is a “really bad American”, is there any meaning left to the rule of law in the United States? If, as we learned last week, a secret government committee, not subject to congressional oversight or judicial review, can now target certain Americans for assassination, under what moral authority do we presume to lecture the rest of the world about protecting human rights? Didn’t we just bomb Libya into oblivion under the auspices of protecting the civilians from being targeted by their government? Timothy McVeigh was certainly a threat, as were Nidal Hassan and Jared Lee Loughner. They killed people in front of many witnesses. They took up arms against their government in a literal way, yet were still afforded trials. These constitutional protections are in place because our Founders realized it is a very serious matter to deprive any individual of life or liberty. Our outrage against even the obviously guilty is not worth the sacrifice of the rule of law. Al-Awlaki has been outspoken against the United States and we are told he encouraged violence against Americans. We do not know that he actually committed any acts of violence. Ironically, he was once invited to the Pentagon as part of an outreach to moderate Muslims after 9/11. As the US attacks against Muslims in the Middle East and Central Asia expanded, it is said that he became more fervent and radical in his opposition to US foreign policy.....

The folks at Occupy Wall Street are creating and publishing videos of themselves onto YouTube. This one from today caught my attention. It's an interview with two men who claim to be Marine Veterans.
- They are anti-war
- Anti Bail-out
- One claims he is burdened with student loans despite the GI Bill
- Asked about Sean Hannity's opinion of protesters, they respond with expletives and claim that everyone in that park near Wall Street are patriotic Americans.....

“Muslim Mafia” co-author and terrorism analyst David Gaubatz says American mosques simply use foreign money to promote jihad, and there’s no comment or question from the IRS.
“They do indeed preach jihad and more importantly they consider Islam to be a government first and a religion second. This means we are allowing governments of other countries to operate as a non-profit. I have numerous documents showing this,” Gaubatz said.
Atlas Shrugs publisher and Islam analyst Pamela Geller believes IRS inaction is because the agency isn’t equipped to deal with the issue.......................

The U.S. government obtained a controversial type of secret court order to force Google Inc. and small internet provider Sonic.net Inc. to turn over information from the email accounts of a WikiLeaks volunteer.
Sonic said it fought the government’s order and lost, and was forced to turn over information. Challenging the order was “rather expensive, but we felt it was the right thing to do,” said Sonic’s chief executive, Dane Jasper.
The government’s request included the email addresses of people volunteer Jacob Appelbaum corresponded with over the past two years, but not the full emails, according to documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Both Google and Sonic pressed for the right to inform Appelbaum of the secret court orders, according to people familiar with the investigation. Google declined to comment. Appelbaum, 28, has not been charged with wrongdoing.

A remake of Soylent Green, the cheesy yet cheerfully pessimistic ‘Seventies science fiction movie starring Charlton Heston, has been rumored for ages now . . .
Some background: Soylent Green is a 1973 science fiction movie that starred then box-office champ Charlton Heston. Considering that the two other science fiction movies Charlton Heston starred in during his long career have already been “remade” (Planet of the Apes by Tim Burton in 2001 and The Omega Man as I Am Legend starring Will Smith), then it should maybe come as no surprise that Hollywood would want to remake Soylent Green as well.
