...But now, with Obama’s announcement, we see the proverbial turn on the dime. He and his administration are admitting that their program is a drain, a burden, an unwelcome presence, a hobbler of prosperity.
That is the implication, and that is really the only conclusion that one can draw from this announcement. It pretty much upends a major claim of the interventionists.
And why is he doing this? Well, look at the polls. It’s a disaster right now for Obama’s presidency.
And look at the economy. It is not growing; it’s shrinking. It’s almost like this combination of political and economic disaster has finally awakened the administration to reality.

After a string of racially charged remarks made by the Democrat members of the Black Congressional Caucus, Congressman Allen West is reconsidering his membership to the caucus, and Tea Party groups across the nation are up in arms about the derogatory racial charged references directed towards them. This weekend in Florida, the Fort Lauderdale Tea Party-longest running Tea party in the country- held a press conference to voice their opposition to members of the Black Congressional Caucus, and ask for them to step down.

A fighter jet has intercepted a small civilian airplane in restricted airspace near the presidential retreat at Camp David, Md., and escorted it to at an airport in West Virginia.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command says the Piper plane was out of radio communication when it was intercepted by an F-15E fighter at about 4:45 p.m. It was diverted to the airport in Martinsburg.

If accurate, his account raises the possibility that Apple security personnel attempting to recover the prototype falsely represented themselves as police officers -- a criminal act punishable by up to a year in jail in the state of California -- or that SFPD employees colluding with Apple failed to properly report an extensive search of a person's home, car, and computer.
"This is something that's going to need to be investigated now," SFPD spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said, when informed about the Bernal Heights man's statements to SF Weekly. "If this guy is saying that the people said they were SFPD, that's a big deal."...................

During my period of active service (1952-72) great changes took place both within and without the Marine Corps. As Marines, we have all experienced such changes.
But, there are also many less dramatic changes that, together with the greater changes, affect how we feel about both ourselves as Marines, and our Corps. As a result of my experience on the net, one ever constant, never-changing, glaring fact stands out, sounding off loud and clear to me in regard to our present day Marines:
Today’s Marines are still the same Gung-Ho Marines they always were!….”Semper Fidelis!”

On Friday, August 26, 2011, a group of New Yorkers were startled to see multiple UFOs hovering in the dark night sky above New York City. This UFO sighting took place just one day before Hurricane Irene was expected to wreak havoc on the area.
The witnesses observed at least 8-10 UFOs high above the city. One of the men was able to capture the sight on video. The unidentified flying objects seemed to remain nearly stationary for the entire length of the video, nearly three minutes, but there is some slight movement overhead.
Each UFO seems to be glowing with a bright white light. They appear to be orbs or spheres, and their lights constantly blink or flicker.

Joe Lieberman, the independent Connecticut chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, said Thursday that the Obama administration has refused to use the term “violent Islamist extremism,” arguing that the White House’s overly cautious word parsing constitutes a refusal to ”speak honestly.”
Sen. Lieberman, an independent who caucuses with Democrats, also said this makes the global fight against Islamic terrorism “harder” for the United States.

The surprising results came in a new scientific telephone survey of nearly l,100 respondents conducted Aug. 20-22 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.93 percentage points. It was done by Wenzel Strategies.
While nearly 60 percent of the respondents claim they never listen to the dominant voice on the radio airwaves today, only 15 percent were unsure whether Limbaugh is helpful or harmful to the U.S., and almost exactly the same number were unable to rate his performance.
In the poll, 56 percent said Limbaugh is doing an excellent, good or fair job, while only 28 percent said his performance was poor. Fifteen percent had no opinion.
More than 51 percent said his work is very helpful or somewhat helpful to the nation, while 34 percent said he was very harmful or somewhat harmful. Again, 15 percent held no opinion.
"Even among the very liberal, 42 percent said he was helpful to America," said Fritz Wenzel, president of Wenzel Strategies. "There is a significant gender gap for Limbaugh, as 59 percent of all men considered him helpful to America, just 43 percent of women agreed. That said, more women than not agreed that Limbaugh is helpful to America – just 38 percent of women said he was harmful, while 19 percent were not sure.

It’s alleged that O’Reilly used his fame and money to get the police department’s internal affairs to do an investigation into this policeman.
Gawker reports that, O’Reilly suspected his wife of having a relationship last year with a police detective in his town of Nassau and he used his influence to have the man investigated by his own police department’s internal affairs.
Accusations from Gawker suggest that O’Reilly was due to give a massive donation to the Nassau County Police Department to build a training center around the time this favor was asked and this may be the reason his request was granted.
The man being investigated was not married and if he was having a relationship with O’Reilly’s wife, this would not have been an offense as a policeman or something internal affairs would normally investigate.

The city council of Lexington, Virginia, decided by majority vote to allow only the Virginia, U.S. and city flags to be displayed on city streets. Although personal rights to own and display the Confederate flag were not limited in any way, members of a Confederate legacy group held a protest to uphold the city’s tradition of displaying the flag.
"These are the things that make Lexington what it is," Lexington resident Mimi Knight told the Associated Press. "The Confederate flag is part of our heritage."

Right now, the people in charge of the government remind us every day that they are the Party of Lincoln. They've stretched Lincoln's philosophy to say that not only should we wage war within our own country ostensibly for democracy, as Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address, but we should wage war all around the world to force democracy on people, whether they want it or not. Not just in Iraq.
They're talking about invading the entire Middle East, for starters, to bring democracy there, as though it were any of our business.
That is empire. Any country that has had a big empire like that has always been bankrupted. If that's the road we're going on, I think it's the road that Lincoln started us on.
Look at what the same government did. Immediately after the War, they commenced a campaign of ethnic genocide against the Plains Indians. That was all part of this plan to have a continental empire.
Now, these people think we need to have a world empire. It's un-American. The Founding Fathers would have fought another revolution over this.

Why so many people cringed when Obozo went off to play with the uber-rich and famous in the posh resort areas of Martha’s Vineyard puzzles me.
Many thought he should remain on the job in these critical times for America, but he has shown that he can do as much damage when on vacation as he can while at his desk in Washington. The man is just a complete and total loss for executive leadership and steering our ship of state.
How much more damage control will be needed during these count-down months ahead until we can finally stop him dead in his tracks on November 06, 2012? How many more sneaky and devastating tricks of administrative deviousness like Executive Orders to further undermine our Constitution does he have up his sleeve?
The minute he is gone some worthy soul in Congress should propose the diminution of authority that can be wielded with Executive Orders so as to protect us from another power mad simpleton in the class of Kim Il Jong or Obama.
Those documents should be totally restricted to administrative and procedural commands not affecting operations or finances of the country. They should never be used to pre-empt or side-step an established law or Constitutional authority. Recess appointments should be banned also.................

Yet leaders in both political parties — for different reasons — continue to act as though race were anachronistic and irrelevant in a country where an African-American is the president.
In July, the unemployment rate was 8.2 percent for whites, but 16.8 percent for blacks and 11.3 percent for Latinos. The Pew Research Center estimates that in 2009, the median household net worth was $5,677 for blacks, $6,325 for Hispanics and $113,149 for whites — down from $12,124, $18,539 and $134,992, respectively, in 2005.
All groups have suffered from high unemployment, the mortgage meltdown and soaring health care costs, but African-Americans and Hispanics started far behind and continue to fall behind. In 2009, 35 percent of black households and 31 percent of Latino households had zero or negative wealth, compared with 15 percent of white households. . .

But sleep texting?
Some sleep specialists say the occurrence of this high-tech parasomnia may represent a new phenomenon — and it’s really not as hard as you might think.
“It doesn’t take a lot of motor skill or brain function to do certain things. You can literally do them in your sleep,” Dr. Adam Fisch, a sleep specialist at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, told ABC affiliate WRTV.
Evidence of this bizarre activity remain largely anecdotal so far; still, past research indicates that texting would not be the strangest thing for one to do while fast asleep. In 2008, Seton Hall University researchers published a case report of sleep e-mailing.
Cases of domestic violence and even homicide committed by a sleeping perpetrator have also surfaced in media reports in recent years. So perhaps you should consider yourself lucky if the most unpleasant thing your dozing buddy visits upon you is a text message.
